Hi ,

I have noticed a lot of threads on G2 & G1 tests but very few on G .. Wish to start this one hoping that G related info can be put in here for prospective reader's benefit ...

For CD veterans who have cleared their G test and are willing to share experience & info ...

1. What do they check for in the G test ?

2. What are the different procedures they make you do per routine ?

3. What factors should be kept in mind ?

4. Which are the better centers ?

5. Are there any Instructor recommendations who can orient well for the G Test in 1-2 classes ( Mississauga / Etobicoke ) ?

Thanks .

Hi Fido

I gave my G test very recently in Brampton. Though I have heard that the centre is very tough, I got through in the first attempt. I followed the instructions given in the attached website closely and the test went exactly the same route.

Best of Luck.

Thank you Sarvjits .. that link is quite informative esp for some one who wishes to opt for Brampton ..

Talking of Driving Centers , are there some better / worse ones ? I had booked in July for Guelph , but now I m wondering if Port Union will be better ....

Nevertheless what are the important points to be kept in mind while testing on the Highway ? Please advise ...

This is what I think about "G Test" -
* Examiner assumes that you have been driving around with G2 (if you are not directly appearing for G).
* Examiner will look at your comfort level on wheel, your driving habits, your hand & head movements.
* You have very lil margin of errors in Parking n Road etiquettes

I passed my G at Etobicoke some 6-7 yrs back, I remember I did slow down/brake in merging lane on entering 427 South from Rathburn (I think), but I had no choice, truck was zipping by.

So use your common sense n be more vigilant. And drive as if you drive everyday.

Fido..if you want a really easy G test, try Orangville. You will find the test route online somewhere. They follow only one route there as the place is very small and the HY too is 80kmph.

The examiners too are very nice and courteous.

Thanks folks ,

Although we drive on the Hwy , but I wished to ensure that we do it right ... Like

a. While merging into main traffic from a ramp , what s more important .... to merge at 100 kph or to watch for the coming traffic ...... I know its both if the road is clean but if it is not ... then there might be a conflict ........... I guess we shd increase our speed and be prepared to modulate it per the approaching traffic before merging ...

b. Another q that comes to my mind while driving on the Hwy is - whats the correct speed to be maintained .... shd we keep under 100 kph or be collaborative with other cars ... I mean people generally drive at 110 + ....

c. Sorry for bothering but q 3 on my mind is - when we merge into a Hwy , is it not better to change 2 lanes asap because the first lane also becomes the exit lane with in a short distance ??

I have booked Guelph for the Test but I guess I will re consider ...... .. Thanks folks for all your advice and suggestions .....
