Have you searched previous posts in Charcha?
This topic has been discussed scored of times.
My personal opinion is, stay in or close to downtown.
Must do are old Montreal, the church on Rene Levesque, the Notre Dame church in the old town, olympic park, Bio Dome, shopping/dining on St. Catherine St. etc.
It's a busy time in town so make sure to book early.
Avoid driving in-town. Park at hotel and take cabs.

Hi Patrickm,
Thanks for your reply, I am still searching more travel hints for ottawa,
and also if you can guide me on any specific way to search for posts in this platform, as whenever I try to search for posts it always results in more unwanted posts, which frustrates.

Most of the Ottawa information can be found here:

Like Montreal, I'd recommend you stay in downtown Ottawa, as close to the Hill as you can.
Most of the attractions and museums are walking distance from there.
Driving around town there, esp. during week days is really hard so leave the car at the hotel.

Try putting in as many keywords as you can.
It will find all posts containing ALL those words.
Also, you can group words together by using double quotes.
It will find all posts where the combined words appears exactly as you quoted.

Montreal, dont miss fireworks in La ronde on 31 July at 10 pm. If ticket is issue for you, try to be at least at good location in old port. La ronde is host for firework competiton between 7-8 countries and its one of Quebec's top attraction.

Other must do is St Joseph oratory (largest in world after Rome church) and light & sound show at Notre dame basilica (every day 7 and 8.30 pm with 10$ entry fee.)

For hotels, try to get Metro map, be on any station of orangeline in downtown (when there is a loop of green and orange line), park your car in hotel and take one day pass of Metro. you will be fine.

In Ottawa, try to be near Parliament hill and dont miss cruise.

If you have a time, go for 1 hr 1000 island cruise too, just 10 km off 401, so your entire trip will be full of fun..
