I am trying to apply for OCI. I lost my IMM 1000 document (Record of Landing) and applied for a replacement. CIC sent me a "Verification of Landing" document, which is different from the IMM 1000 document. The CIC web site says "...you will receive a letter verifying the date and place of your landing if the original document cannot be copied." So, it would appear that CIC cannot send me a copy of the IMM 100 document.

However, the VFS folks in Toronto insist that they need my IMM 1000 document and that the "Verification of Landing" will not suffice as a replacement.

Any advice on how I can obtain a copy of my IMM 1000 document?

Or should I just give up applying for OCI?

Thanks in advance.

One of the CC of IMM 1000 is kept by immigration dept. You should first query the immigration if they have my CC of my doc and get it certified as true copy of original. I don't understand why they can't copy it. They must have kept it in electronic format and there is no reason they can't copy it. If they did not keep it in electronic format then they are totally idiots.

Cn anyone advice how I should get in contact with CIC regarding obtaining an original copy of my IMM 1000? I phoned the contact number on the CIC web site, but I get an automated answer which is not at all helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I will put you into a thread and I would urge you to register with them and start asking questions in that thread and find out how one such individual got his copy of IMM1000 by him and it is dated August. 2009.

Freddie.

When you applied for the Verification of Landing document, on the form under part B, did you put a checkmark against IMM 1000. That's what you want, and that's what VFS will accept. I applied for it and they send me a certified copy of my IMM 1000, for a $30 fee, and 5 month waiting.

Here is the link to the application form -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5009BKIT.pdf

Check this link to CIC's web site -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/certcopy.asp

Were you able to get the certified true copy? Did you have to check the "Certified True Copy" in the Application form and NOT the "Replacement" right?
Also, in Part B for Official Use only, do w ehave to select the IMM1000 form? I am surprised it takes 5 months to get a copy of this document. They could do much better if electronic records are maintained. Good luck and let us know i fyou got it. I am in the same situation (lost my IMM1000) and need to apply for my OCI. Since I am in Seattle, I need to know if I can apply at the Canadian Consulate in Seattle for this replacement? Any help can be appreciated.

As per this http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5545E3.asp since you're outside the country you are to submit your application to the Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate closest to your home.
