I got a letter saying "request for fingerprint". On the website it says it may delay the application by 8 to 10 months. Does anyone know the actual timeline for that??

Please share your experience. I am highly tensed and frustrated.

Thanks,

Mitul Patel

You haven't mentioned what type of application this is. I'm guessing it's your Citizenship application.

If so, relax - it's normal - they run your name against a database, and if there is any doubt, you are asked for fingerprints. Nothing to worry, except that it'll cost you around $25 or so, + some aditional time.

There's probably a M Patel out there, who's commited a crime, and they want to rule out that it was you. :D

BTW, My wife and I were both asked for it.

Thanks,

OMG... that was long time ago, back in 2001. I think around another 2 months or so, but certainly not 8 to 10 months

OK.. now I'm  Where does the Indian Govt. come in the picture. It's the RCMP for background checks

Again, to confirm this is for your Canadian Citizenship, right ??

Oh....As much as I understand this is how it works.

RCMP will take my fingerprints and sends it to India for criminal record check. Indian police sends the result back to RCMP and then they will forward it to CIC.

Am I wrong here??
