Hi,

Can anyone suggest some good cellphone plans without 1 yr commitment. i have a relative coming for 3-6 mths and would like to have him a cellphone handy.

Any pointers to websites comparing plans or having options would be great.

Thanks

you can try some of the new cellphone companies in the market:

Wind Mobile
Mobilicity
Public Mobile.

Just google them.

Rogers launched Chatr.. which is giving cell phone service with comparable prices without the network issues associated with the new carriers..

bell will be launching Solo shortly in same format. Telus, for sure, will be coming with a similar service.

With all these discounted brands, even if these companies have strong network, but if you buy crappy phones , you will still have dropped calls.

With Chatr any regular North America band GSM phone will work.. so which phone to buy and use is upto the customer, although chatr only sells limited models..
Due to the generic gsm frequency getting unlocked phones from outside that will work with Chatr is a lot easier.

I think the device issues will be more of a problem for the new entrants, who are all working on newer AWS frequencies, because the band is only used by few carriers so good devices are expensive
