Looking for info on Vaughan Schools and Apartment/Basement rentals

Hi,
I am a new immigrant & have landed in June. I have got a starter job in Vaughan and looking for basement apartment near langstaff and Millway intersection. I am looking for a one/two bedroom basement/ apartment.
Also, I have a six year old son who will be starting school in Sept. Was a bit apprehensive about whether we have punjabi/indian community in vaughan as we are sikhs and my son wears a turban. I do not want my son to feel out of place in the school so thought would take help of you all in knowing about the society in Vaughan.
