In today's one day strange thing happened Sehwag needed one run for century and winning, Srilankan bowler Randive deliberately bowled no ball. Sehwag hit six on that but it was not counted as no ball run was first counted according to the rule. very strange. In previous delivery Srilankan allowed 4 as by runs so that Sehwag can not finish his century. The spirit of the game is already gone nowadays.

Yes it was deliberate. He has not bowled any no ball in tests and one dayers in this series. He stepped out at least by a foot for the no ball. Whether he had the tacit support of the captain Sangakkara is not known at this time. I hope Randiv is suspended for a few matches. Any inquiry by the SL board is just an eye wash.

IMHO, Sri Lanka is second only to Australia when it comes to lack of sportmanship and use of unethical tactics.
And now that this team is a mere shadow of its glory days from 10 years ago, they are resorting to such cheap tricks.
If you think about it, most of their bowlers are ho-hum, run-of-the-mill chuckers and ball dippers.
Think of Dharamsena and his likes.
The only two bowlers of exception that this team has produced are Vaas and Murali, although he's a chucker if there ever was one.
I don't buy any of this BS about wrist deformity, etc.

Barring the few years when the unassailable tactics of Jayasuria ruled the world, this team has produced little contribution to Cricket.
To be fair, they have produced some very classy batsmen, who can be stacked up among the best in the world.
Aravinda de Silva, Roy Dias, etc. come to mind.

And Alan Border allowing Gavaskar to complete his 10,000 runs by bowling down the leg stump and not having any fielders behind square.
And Gavaskar graciously getting out right after completing his 10,000 runs :)

Sangakkara under scanner for no-ball controversy?
Dambulla, Aug 17, (PTI):

Sri Lankan cricket board was examining stump microphone audios to determine whether captain Kumar Sangakkara or any of his teammates had played a role in coaxing Suraj Randiv to bowl a 'no-ball' to prevent Virender Sehwag from scoring a century.

Sources said that SLC had sought the tapes from the official broadcasters to investigate as what transpired between the bowler and his teammates during the fag end of the tri-series match.

Sehwag was just one short of his 13th ODI hundred when Randiv, who had not bowled a no ball in the Test or ODI series this season, bowled one which was hit by the opener for a six.

However, it did not count because the no ball amounted to India's winning run leaving Sehwag on an unbeaten 99. According to audio tapes, captain Sangakkara had heard instructing Randiv in Sinhalese "If he hits the ball, he gets the run".

Although it appeared to be an innocuous comment, some TV channels were interpreting it as an attempt to influence the young bowler to overstep the line and deny Sehwag what could have been his 13th ODI century.

Sangakkara has, however, maintained that he had only asked Randiv to keep the ball tight and not allow Sehwag score a run. According to a SLC source, the report of the manager, who has been asked to initiate an inquiry into the incident, would be submitted to the board tomorrow.
