Dear CDs,
As of end of this month I will be returning to India for good. I have resigned from my job and just sold the house.
As we know, every situation is different. We have family obligations, taking care of couple of seniors. Got a good price on our house as it appreciated by double digits, thanks to the Canadian real estate boom. Being a civil engineer with P.Eng and 15+ exp in the west, it should be easy for me to get a part time or contract work, as I cannot work full time anymore due to personal commitments. We have no regrets for leaving Canada. No doubt Canada has done a lot for us and we appreciate it very much.
When needed, I have got advice/suggestions/tips from CDs and I am very grateful for it. I will still be contributing to the charcha, from India.
Thx all.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Good Luck to both you guys.
I hope that things work out and you are able to provide some valuable feedback after the move. There are several of us who are on the fence due to similar reasons such as aging parents so it will help us to make this difficult decision.

Congratulations: A good long term decision !! Initially you might have some problems, but over the long term - this sacrifice will definately pay-off.
Just a note: From Robert Lloyd George: Chairman, Lloyd George Investment Management, Hong Kong
"I expect that China will be 25 per cent of the world capital market within the near future. India follows close behind. Some 90 per cent of IPOs in the world are now taking place in emerging markets rather than in Europe or the US. Before 1800 China and India were the wealthiest nations in the world and by 2020 it will be true again."

How do you define wealthiest? Is it going to affect the quality of life for middle class family? How about the health care costs/inflation/social services/pollution/gridlock/infrastructure/government services/corruption? I believe your definition of wealthiest might just based on numbers and does not take into account the overall quality of life.
This is always an never-ending discussion about what is better? Living in India with lots of disposable income but with a compromise on quality of life or living in Canada with little or no disposable income but better quality of life. It is about finding your personal sweet spot.
