I've been with Johnson for about 3 years now, they do offer good rates.

As ashedfc mentioned, I'm a member of a professional body and hence get some additional benefits on top of the competitive rate.

Exactly, I am also member with OACETT and hence I can get group rates with the Personals, but Johnson since last 3 years offers more benefits with less premium.

If you do have 10 demerit points, I feel the $450+ insurance is not bad. Most insurers will not even accept your application with so many demerit points.

dude, you gotta stop buying this imported Japanese junk cars.
i've said before on the forum in other threads, there is no benefit to buying Japanese garbage any more.
most of the stuff is made in US/Canada anyway and the insurance companies screw you over on the insurance rates.
you are overpaying for the car, overpaying for the maintenance, overpaying for the servicing and overpaying for the insurance.

try getting a similar insurance quote for a Chevy or Ford.
for the same amount of money you could have had a bigger, better and newer car.

someone mentioned statefarm and TD Meloche Monex are having claim problems this year.
boss, that's because statefarm has been running an insurance scam for years and years.
they only insure drivers with no claims and no tickets.
the moment you get a ticket or make a claim, they jack up their rates so much that the customer has to drop them.
i am with them in the US and this is the scam they are running.
it is finally starting to catch up with them.
Geico ran this many years ago and got hit with the rebound as well.

car insurance is the biggest scam running in Canada now.

I just went through this exercise and got no choice than to stick with my existing insurance co. (The Personal)..

Found this and that helped understand why am I paying so high premiums.
Also, I'd a minor accident + a speeding ticket .. Live in Brampton (high claims community, as the insurance co. says, etc)

You got nothing but to keep quiet, curse and keep paying the ripped off amounts from them.. My sympathy for all high auto-insurance premium payers!!

(if the election is campaigned over just this reason, the opposition party can win over with a huge margin.. ha ha ha! provided they come out with a resolution and in favor of tax-payers.

I feel this is the universal response of most companies - location . I live in Scarborough and get the same answer on every hike in premium . i.e I want to understand these practices, from Insurance Companies/Brokers/ Agents can be nailed and get good rates.
How come with same status other communities get better rates than us.Can our Desi Brokers/ Agents.
