Puttoo,

There are three idiots in India who share your view; Salman, Digvijay and Shahrukh.

I do not follow your logic that corruption at grassroots level is more dangerous than at highest level.

I believe that corruption at grassroots level is due to and is blessed at the highest level. People know this.

I do not completely agree with demand of Anna or Baba but I do applaud their courage in taking up the issue.

Further, I do not believe that corruption in India is ingrained in culture. I have witnessed quite a few agitations against corruption, significant being one undertaken by J.P and then later by moron V.P.Singh who ultimately betrayed the nation.

Narendra Modi has achieved a great deal of success in reducing corruption which fact has been acknowledged by people of stature and credibility like Ratan Tata and Deepak Parekh.

However, I do share your view that the movement is destined to fail as Indian youth force is now hooked to Bollywood and IPL. Arab Spring is result of youth movement that is not possible in India. I think Kangress knows this and hence kicked out Baba in middle of night. Kangress is not afraid of Jasmine revolution unlike China as Indian youth is wasted and has little interest in politics, economy or cultural rejuvenation. Reelection of Kangress in WB, Kerala and Assam is proof of that.

Corruption in India is now ingrained in the culture. It has become a status symbol for most of the common people and people aspire to be part of it. And it is this culture of corruption that needs to be tackled.

If there has to be a reform movement it has to be at the grassroot level as it is this corruption that is more damaging. The cop who gets bribe on the road side in full view of common public is more dangerous then a politician.

Everyone one talks about Adarsh housing society but no one talks how 90% of Delhi has illegal construction.

Corruption by politician has been there in many countries like Japan and Korea but you will not find common people paying bribes. This is what is required in India ...... getting rid of corruption at the grassroot level. Throwing a few politicians in jail only brings a new crop of "hungry" politicians.

Wow - what a corrupt logic?

I do not know why somebody who mentions about removing corruption at the lowermost level gets booed on this board.

IMO, the issue is that our legal system is not a deterrent for people who wants to engage in this kind of behaviour. And people who are in the system cannot swim against the system, so they become a part of system.

Talk about the corruption in civil services. I don't have any respect for so called intelligent people with IIT degrees who join civil services just to make money.

Recently, I heard about an incident where a person was ticketed for a minor traffic violation. His vehicle was impounded and he had to spend a day in police station. However, he was openly asked for bribed to get himself and his vehicle freed. So why would a person obey traffic laws when the system that is in charge of law and order is corrupt to the bone.

I do not trust the Baba himself. His only fame to claim is his TV show. Now he is reaping his fame for some ulterior motive. He has made pretty stupid statements in past. He makes a big deal of being on fast by making a big show of himself. It is a gross vulgarisation of the concept of fasting introduced by Gandhiji.

I like her blog. She seems pretty intelligent compared to the left wing English media out there.

The critics slammed Baba Ramdev saying he has a political ambitions. So what? On one hand they say if one needs to cleanse the system, be a part of it and make efforts. Then, one sane man who is hugely popular (for all the right reasons) among the general population stands up, raises the valid questions to the Govt. by representing the public, and being thrown out from holding a peaceful satyagraha. Go figure. It's the same Congress that had truth and sanity as it's core in Patel and Gandhi during its formation years. Is it now the same Congress that was led by Gandhi's peaceful satyagraha against the British rule? Aren't they akin to what Britishers did in pre-independant era? It was the outsiders who looted India, and now is the insiders who get a big chunk of the Nation's loot in their offshore accounts. With no action against them in sight, it's the big Shame on Congress including a spineless MMS. No wonder, India is still being ruled, albeit by a bunch of crooks.

Nonetheless, stupid Indian electorate will once again vote for them, being blindfolded by 'don't know what'. It's another sad day and story.

Dilli or Haridwar, Ramdev shouldn't budge from his stance now. Otherwise, he will also join the chorus of these goons in power.

Go for the jagular, Mr. Ramdev.

Congress is reacting in exact same way they reacted when VP Singh stood up against Ravjee's government. What is government afraid of? Isn't peaceful protest a right given by Indian constitution?

Going by your logic of popularity, you would have no issue if Raakhi Sawant decide to lead the fast against government for corruption removal. IMO, Baba Ramdev is a TV personality and should stick to what he is good at, making money through TV.

P.S. - Regarding your "avtaar" change, it is very confusing to see your name besides a ball rather than a guy mending his hair.

I also mentioned 'SANE'. By no standards Rakhi Sawant could be called as a sane person, although popular (on the contrary, for all the wrong reasons).

Well, this is my bone of contention. Where does it state that any honest citizen of India, regardless of their profession shouldn't take the Government of the country by it's horns? In my view, if it takes an honest baba to cleanse the system or raise awareness even by being politically motivated, then I am all for it. Gandhi was also known as Gandhi baba and lived in Ashram. So, leader is a leader regardless of their profession, whether political motivated or not.

:). Yes, it was time for change. Thought to do it when 'the change' is being mentioned on every nook and corner these days. Jumped the wagon.
