Hi Guys,
I have been in Calgary for last 3 years working in restaurant industry.Iam looking to make a career change. Can some advice me on what kind of courses one need to take to get CSR/ Teller job in a bank ?. Also i would like to be financial advisor eventually, Just wanted to know what kind of courses i will need as well job likes and dislikes from those who are in the industry.
Thanks.
There are no courses required but experience in customer service /cash handling may give an edge to secure Teller/csr position.
For account manager position you need to have experience in client facing sales roles and mutual funds licenses(IFIC course or CSC ) will help
all these roles have a expectation of meeting sales /refferal targets..can be demanding for some
Even in the worst time of economic crisis in 2008 in canada there were very few layoffs as compared to some other industries
Thanks a lot for your advice. Can you please elaborate on the acronym NRD and Is the Canadian securities course agood way to start or would you recomend some thing else?.

Otherwise, a CFA or CPA is a standard requirement to work in a bank and can aid in helping you to change field.
