Do your research.
It is supposed to be in the range of $ 1600 or so.
Seven Seas is a very decent price.
I think I used ATN, Brampton. Though the price they quoted was competitive like $ 1000 or so but in the end they added up a lot of stuff and brought it to $ 1600.
Once the sale was done, the salesman refused to take my calls or call back (though he was a native who is supposed to give good CSR)
But their service was efficient.

Peace

Your quote was for door to door. That is why it is so high as they account for bribe, agent fees in India etc...
If you try for a Door to Port, it will be in the $ 1500+ range. You will have to clear it from the port. For any port, some agent from the indian port will call you and clear the contents for you. The statutory charges will be in the range of Rs.30000 (Depends on the quantity of goods) + Bribe (optional).
May be if it is Mumbai port or Chennai port, bribe might be less/nil.

All the best.

Peace

Not sure where u r located in Canada and where in India u want to move to.
If u r relocating, then u r eligible to bring back most all ur stuff provided they r all listed. The only catch is they would make an entry on ur Passport saying you relocated/Return residency. You cannot take items back again in this way for next 3 years. You typically need not have to pay any under the table stuff here unless u have multiples of the same item. What items you could take back and quantities are clearly listed in Government of India Customs website. Typically if say u r a family of 4, then you could take say 3 mattress, 2 sofa sets, dining, Electronics...etc.
If u do not want to exercise this option (Stamping on Passport) then all the items will be taxable/dutiable excluding allowable limit. This will be a open case and you might have to pay some under the table. Typically When u ship an item in a container, it comes to India via one of the ports like Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin..etc....if ur destination is Bangalore, You could still get ur items cleared in Blore as it has a custom clearing office. You would need a clearing agent to clear your container here. There are lot of companies who do this and if u want specifics, you could PM me.
The best person to tell u this is your local freight forwarder.
If u r in GTA area, check this http://www.abglobal.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK and speak to Mr Abraham. I have used them twice and am glad I used them once to move from Toronto to Bangalore and again from B'lore back to Toronto in a container. If u need specific info, u could PM me.

Hello SaathSamundarPar

That does sound a lot. Umm we had around 12 boxes about 5ftx3 ft and it cost us around 4.5 to 5 grands door to door. in fact they didnt charge extra for moving it from Bombay to Blore (since i had then relocated to Blore) while the goods were in transit.

Infact I give your reference, & he immediately recognized you as "Giri"..

my move is happening in June, as there are some more formalities which needs to be completed before I say my final goodbye to Canada.
