I am planning to buy a hybrid car like toyota prius. Reviews are pretty good. Very economical like 25 kms per liter.
I have doubt about the high maitenance cost because incase of services it has to go to dealer and they may charge what ever they want because no body else can do it.
Anybody has idea about it? Is it worth to take used form autotrader or kijiji?

I have considered it but then dropped the idea due to the cost factor. True, they save gas, but initially you will have to pay more to buy them. However, I don't think it is that high maintenance. A friend of mine has a Camry hybrid and he is very happy with it. I have found it to be a low maintenance as well. But, Prius could a different ballgame. Research and then buy.

I think its not high maintenance of hybrid cars but the initial cost which is a deterrent.
Generally when buy first car, we go for the low cost option due to other expenses glaring at us and as a second vehicle we go for SUV , thats where a hybrid car lose out.
I drive Lexus SUV RX 400h. Cost saving on gas is in the range of 10%~15% of compared with similar size non hybrid SUV

to clear on your confusion,
Canadiandesis are those who like you and me were born and brought up in India or other satelite countries and immigrated to Canada. We are still Indians at heart.
and
CanadianVanaspatis are people of Indian origin brought-up completely in Canada ( not so pure desis). Even some of them who came from India have transformed into complete goras and avoid interacting with their fellow countrymen forgetting they look like them, fall into this category.
