I am planning on going to India, Mumbai (after 10 yrs., wonder if it's going to be shocking - in a good way) sometime end of next month and was hoping someone could guide me in making it memorable.

- Some decor places - I guess small pieces that can be carried in my bags. would I be able to bring them into Tor. w/o too much hassle? - in Mumbai.

- Some really nice eateries, Indian & Chinese and some snack houses - in Mumbai.

- I am going to be in Mumbai for about 10-15 days, then would like to take in another city - (East (never been anywhere), West (have been to Goa), South (been to B'lore, Madras) North (been to Delhi) any recommendations except places m'tioned above.

- Also tourist attractions in those places, places to stay, eateries.

Hope it's not a tall order :p and thank you all in advance :w .

Lucky you, dude!

Even though you've been to Goa already, try to go there again.

About 3 days should be enough if you have a tight schedule. My wife and I were there in January, now both of us can't wait to go back. It was gorgeous.

In the north, how about Uttaranchal? I've never been, but have heard from friends that some of the spots there are so beautiful, they're hard to describe. One of my friends who used to trek there regularly showed me photos and I concur. There are a lot of companies organising treks there these days, and they're not that expensive too. You can go on one that's spanning about 7 days or so. I'm planning to do that when I go next time.

I'm not from Bombay, but last time I went there, we went to a restaurant that's on a boat docked off Juhu (I think). The name escapes me, I'll try to see if I can remember it. It was good. And real expensive too, the tab ran to about 100 bucks Canadian for four people. Worth a try though.

Are you there?

Hummingbird,

Glad to know that you are on your way to Mumbai.

I can help you out on Mumbai - a lot. Just let me know where you are going to be in Mumbai. The megapolis is bursting at its seams. Once I have your location correct, I can keep you posted on good eateries. Also let me know what kind of food you wish to take and what is your budget like.( anything is going to be cheap when compared with Toronto)

Also are you talking about some artefacts from Mumbai? Do let me know..what is it that you want.?

Hi Sudhish, I will be in the Bandra (w)/Andheri area, but I would also like to go downtown (churchgate....etc.) area. Snacks like Pao Bhaji (but good quality, not road side since I don't think I'll be able to digest it now) some good pastry shops.....

Yes the artefacts that can be carried back with me, wall hangings, small floor stuff. We are about 4-5 adults travelling so bringing things in everyone's bags should not be too much of problem, I should think.

On the net, I came across a rest. called 'Fireplace' in Andheri and Suzie Wong for some desi Chinese cuisine. For artefacts, there was The Global Village at Napean Sea Road...... Have you heard about these? Can you suggest along these lines....

Thanks
