Folks ,
One q about Teksavvy .. How much is the effective upload speed for their TekSavvy Basic Cable 3 internet ... the $24.95 one ?
They say 256 kbps but would like to know from anyone who has used it ?

In additon I have found that Velcom is giving DSL internet for $24.95 for a 2M download and 800 KB upload (40GB) ... Will need to add 9 bucks for the dry loop ...
Wondering which one to go ahead with -- I use Magic Jack and wondering whether Teksavvy s 256 KB upload speed is actually 200KBPS + or not .....

Hi Fido,
I have heard Teksavvy is good but never used it. You might want to consider Distributel option as well if you want. I personally used it and never faced any challenge with them. I downloaded movies within 10-15 mins or so.
Thanks HV , but Distributel cable also shows upload speed of 256 kbps which is same as Teksavvy .
I spoke with Teksavvy yesterday to a Tech Support person and he assured me that with the new set up & wiring they have in Ontario , consumers get more than what they are paying for and that he would not expect the speed to go below 200 kbps .. For sure that are leasing from Rogers.
My usage is pretty basic but I am concerned about my Majic Jack ... Teksavvy cable @ 24.95 appears to be a good deal ..Will need to buy a Docsis 2.0 modem ($85/-) plus activation fee $50/-..

Hi Fido,
If you had compared the price between Teksavvy and Distributel and if it is almost same then I would recommend to go with most of the people have used here. I would recommend to buy your own router rather than from either of these internet companies, so at least you might be able to save some $$ by buying in sale price.
However if you are concerned about your Majic Jack then it will work perfectly fine with either of the internet speed, unless you are concerned about something else. Good Luck and pls share the experience after using the service provider you may select.
Thanks HV ,
Yes I have also decided to buy the modem from Canada Computers ... At least there s a 15 days return .
Since I do not have a land line , cable seems to be an obvious choice ... My usage is basic so Teksavvy @ 24.95 appears to be a good choice .... Thats the way I will take after negotiating with Bell first ( as they are my current provider )
Will keep the thread updated but that would be next month when I am due for a switch.

Fido.
I have Acanac internet and planning to use VoIP phone now.
Acanac suggest CISCO router at http://www.frontierpc.com/acanac-special-buy-spa122-voip-phone.html link.
I am about to buy http://www.amazon.com/D-Link-VTA-VR-Broadband-Telephone-Adapter/dp/B000FCTAP4 router.
Any idea about this router? Does this work properly with Acanac?
Any other suggestion with personal experience?
Currently, I am using old Magic Jack adapter which require Computers always ON. I am facing the problem of voice cut and some time even pressing the key on cordless, it doesn't appear on computer screen and causing dialing the invalid number.
I may consider to use new Magic Jack which doesn't require computer to be ON but again if there will be some problem, is it easy to troubleshoot and resolve quickly?
Any personal experience of Magic Jack Plus device?
What do you suggest? (Magic Jack Plus OR Acanac VoIP)
Thanks
