Hi Jyoti,
Welcome to Canada, the land of opportunities!!
Fido has recently launched a very good service: its called city fido.
All your local calls, incoming and outgoing , are free. You will be given a GSM mobile phone with your dedicated number, you can even transfer your home phone number and get a mobile phone on the same number. It is, I believe, WLL or limited mobility but it is good and the price is also very reasonable.
Check on http://www.cityfido.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK or call fido
Hope, it will help.

Hi Jyoti,

It was nice to meet you and your husband Vishal at the CD meeting.

I think it would be a record of sorts that a new immigrant within 2 days of landing was participating in the meeting of Canadian Desi. Thanks to SanjeevGuptaji for ensuring your presence in the meeting.

While you get used to the Canadian lifestyle, may I request you to change your location status to Toronto/Mississauga now.

With all the best wishes,

Hello Everybody:) ,

Ok so I’m back! As new immigrants you all know how busy days are here. Finished all the formalities. Ok now I’m starting writing our experience.

Canada is no doubt a very beautiful place (I luv nature too much), & if U get good jobs then this is the right place to live:) . & I have already started loving this place. Though i heard that there is struggle for the first few years:cry: but for long term prospects it’s a wonderful place to live:up: . Regarding Immigration at airport 1 thing what i have noticed is that, if U speak good english then U'll not face any difficulties. The officer was very frustrated :smash: becoz lots of people don’t know English!!! So when our turn came his 1st question was “Do U speaks English”:D (heeeeeeeeeeeee funny na). Anyways, our experience was good. We didn’t face any problem.

One thing what I noticed here people are very friendly & nice. So for us impression of Canada is so far good.

Next day we applied for SIN (here also they were very friendly ). They told us that, it would be mailed to ur postal add. For opening an a/c it's better if ur friend introduces U then U'll face no problem. Regarding OHIP card U can apply within 3 months from the date of landing so no rush in the beginning & you'll get health benefits after 3 months of ur landing date.

We have not shipped anything from Dubai, it’s indeed a headache. Regarding job hunting we'll start very soon, few days back my hubby got G1 license:cheers: so very soon he'll start driving classes.

Mississauga is a nice place, all the places look same. I attended the canadiandesi meeting, it was very nice to meet all desi's:) . All are very friendly & helpful. I think it's good to meet desi's outside india. You will really learn lots of things from them. My grp people gave me very nice advice thanx to all guys & specially pramodji.

Ok then more in next. Once again all the best to all:cheers:
