Anna team doesn't want to run elections, but want their way or the highway out of Parliament. Why do we need the Governance then?

This Lokpal was a damp squib from day one. Who will oversee the Lokpal? Another Senior Lokpal? How would they make sure Mr. Lokpal doesn't get his share under the table to remain quiet? CBI? The less said the better. It is actually a joke. This is not at all an efficient way to tame the Politians and the currupt Beaurocracy.

When allegations are dime a dozen and conviction is not an ounce - you know where it all ends.

You can't fix India's problems even with a revolution. Bigger market, younger population (but highly unproductive, unemployed, and uneducated), GDP, and blah.. blah.. blah is one thing, and the grassroot issues, deep rooted curruption, and inbred 'chalta hey' attitude is another. Latter of which is a reality and not going anywhere. At least not in my lifetime.

I absolutely agree with your observation but do not agree to your solution. Jawahar Joker, Lenin, Stalin, Jinnah and Castro (and probably Bush too) would have passed political science exam with 100% marks but they were/are absolutely satanic people. In democracy, media has a huge responsibility of reporting objectively and educating masses. However, media now acts as "dalal" and does partisan reporting, full of lies and ideology. Democracy was never meant to be a rule by "majority of voting people". Independent and strong institutional framework is a per-requisite. Independent media, basic framework of constitution which grants guarantees of equality before law, fairness in dispensing justice and respect and peaceful enjoyment of property, private ownership of wealth, impartial and independent bureaucracy are basic institutional framework. India has none of this today. Indira destroyed it long back.

I also believe that it is just not Indians who are acting stupid. I believe that those 52% who voted for Obama are equally stupid. Who will reelect a guy who has no plan to revive economy and no plausible plan to cut deficit?

As I pointed out, independent and impartial judiciary is a prerequisite. Katju, being part of SC failed to do anything. Now that he is president of Press council, he talks all garbage which media is obliged to print. I think time has come for SC to issue a gag order on Katju.
