Priti : Now you have got a feel about your proposed life in Canada.
But I see an advantage for you as mentioned by another poster. Financial brokerage is a very lucrative field in Canada (next is real estate). There are people who have done well.
However on another note, it is the same story. People know the hard life in Canada and think it canot be harder than Gulf. Once they land here, they know the real hard life of Canada, incl. taxes, no availability of job, prices (1 CDN - 55 Rs.), weather.

Since you will be coming from Gulf, it is a good bet for you to buy a house. You could sublet the house to students or other poorer desi immigrants. This will also take the load of money of you and make you eligible for ontario grants (free money / childcare / HST benefits). Interest rates are at a historic lows and it is an advantage to you.

Peace by Murali

There are a lot of hurdles for newcomers to Canada. They do not recognize your qualifications and experience initially. Thus first generation struggles.

But there are plenty of opportunities if we think out of box. Immigrants are progressing well now.
Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are having a lot of jobs.
There are two types of business opportunities. One is traditional where asians have been doing it for some time (like transportation, retail, real estate, food and services (needing no capital) like real estate agents, insurance agents, financial services etc.
The non traditional opportunities are more rewarding like technical consulting, mining services, trading, import/export, logistics, bio technology, construction business etc.

i just have one thing to say to the people who think negative always, I have read many postings by the same person, its been always negative and discouraging ,every place had ups and down, there is no place or country is heaven for the people who are so negative, be positive and think positive, you will find heaven anywhere,
canada is not at all a bad place for someone who wants to do some thing for themself, there are always opportunities, if you dont see that its your fault,
priti i dont think you need to change your mindset, you just keep trying what you wanna do, eventually you will be there one day, soon or later,
i arrived here a year back, had faced hell lots of problem ,both personally and professionally, the next day i arrived , i had to travel two days on the bus due to a some one who i trusted, then worked in a restaurant, it did hurt me when they use to send me back after just two hours of work, because the business was down, then changed job, use to woke up at 3 00 in the morning, then travel two hours in the bus for my first job, finish the first job at 4 pm then had to travel 1 hr 30 mins to reach next job site, then work till 10 pm, travel 30 mins back home,
this might sound horrible, but it was ok for me, because i know that will push me to next step,
honestly when i think where iam today, i almost reached the best job that available in my profession, and if i would stay anywhere else in the world, i would not be in the same position as iam today, not even after 10 years,
this is just an example , as to how you can stay positive and you still do best for your future,
I would like to request people to stop being so negative about immigrating to canada, everyone had their own reason, every one is not same as you or me,
you can always provide glimpse of hope by saying something positive, i dont think you will ever do any good to people by saying negative,
ok let me answer the question,
Priti, its really hard to suggest any great ideas , because everyone find this place very different, i would suggest you to get in and see it by yourself, there are always opportunities for everyone, there are people who did really well, there are people still struggling,it may not be same as dubai,
peace
