Since I could not install dish at my place I have started looking at internet alternatives :
a. Andoid based IPTV . which you can connect to your router and HDMI and subscribe to internet based channels.
b. Chromecast ... Heard it will be available in Canada for $39/- this week onwards ..Simply plug it to HDMI and run it with your android phone / tablet remotely.
c. Roku
d. Connected my laptop to the TV and using a cordless keyboard and mouse .
Q is : Whichever option one uses besides You Tube which are the sites which offer HD channels like Yupp TV and all which do have some Hindi HD channels ?
Pls advise which channels to subscribe to .... Some one told me that Android based IPTV boxes help you connect to some free channels .... Have not used Android based option ... has anyone and in case yes , how s the experience ?

I checked out the reviews of Dishworld, YUPPTV, Jadu TV etc. unfortunately, there are many bad reviews on amazon, BBB complaints forums etc. Not sure what to make out of them.
1) It is possible that these services do not work 100% at all times for all kinds of bandwidths.
2) It is also possible that vast majority of customers are happy with them and they don't bother coming back to leave positive feedback thus showing only the bad reviews.
On the positive note, these are all legal services. Does anyone here have personal experience with the above services?

Instead of paying for Apps like Yupp TV, free app like below are available on Google Play for watching Hindi TV Channels.
See below app "mFlex TV Hindi Channels"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mGenInfoApp.mGenHTV
This app has limited but good quality channels, other apps provides 1000 of channels but not easy to naviagte through.
The app has news, movies, music, cartoon channels and SAB TV.
I am using this app on mobile, tablet and also on android TV Box - RCA connected with my 32 inch HD TV, its good for most of channels.
If you strech, offcourse quality goes down as app is designed for mobile and tablets. But its not that bad either, you are getting something for free without paying any subscription.
I am enjoying the news channels specially with loksabha elections being hot topic on media. And music channels and cartoon channels for my kid on tablet.
Hope this information helps!
Enjoy!
Hi
my advise id buy a good but cheap Android box from market, install XBMC
and u can watch all Hindi channels ,, all USA channels, sport channels, documentary channels
for example,
1 channels, Mash up,, put locker,, so many .
The advantage of Android box is u can download so many apps , free of charge and easy to download,
Western box is LINUX based and difficult to download or find apps.
Thanks

I think we should be clear in our comments.
Yes with XBMC you can catch a lot of channels. But basically what it does is plays the small clips of videos you find online say on video sharing sites.
What you should understand is
- Everything is not there .. many programs are not available e.g. I can't find Anil Kapoor's 24 anywhere on XBMC
- Many times the videos wont work e.g. Koffee with Karan will be taken down often so you wont get to watch it most times.
On a side note Febreet you many all indian channels are on youtube. Can I find the above on youtube .. I havent had luck except for a clip here or there.
Most of these freebie solutions that let you watch from streams on the internet are a pain and take time and you should be willing to forgo one or more episodes of a beloved serial (since it did not work).
And also many times if your bandwidth is slow you will find the video buffering or pausing sometimes can be frustrating.
You get what you pay for

I have used YuppTV and then disconnected. There are none of the popular channels like Sony, Colors. They just have Zee TV Canada and it does not have any of the popular serials. It was basically songs and movie trailers filled channels and news if you are into it.
So even though it was only $10 bucks a month, I found it useless. Streaming was good on a Samsung SmartTV. They charge a one time $10 or $15 to activate the app on the TV.
