I have been following this thread with interest. Initially, it seemed like you are involved in a non-profit service to improve the job opportunities for immigrants in Canada. My thoughts are as follows.

1) In addition to the petition link, you are also persistently promoting a website (http://onevoicecanada.org/contact-us/) which provides hiring and consultancy services. This is a clear case of using a social platform like CD to promote your company services while pretending to fight for the common man.

2) Ominously, your website also promotes religion based “Enriched Islamic studies” (whatever that means), alongside employment opportunities. It is clear where you are going with your petition idea by preying on unsuspecting unemployed immigrants.

3) Moderator should step in to see if this thread has broken any rules of the forum and take the necessary action.

Dear Rajagopal, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and you can create as many theories as you like out this thread according to your mind set.

My intentions are very simple and clear to engage every one in to this campaign and by sharing this information in CD I was hoping to raise voice for Desi professional immigrant who are coming to Canada for a better and prosperous economic future, Canadian experience and credentials not recognized becomes an economic barrier to all new professional immigrants to Canada. This is a not only an economic issue for new immigrants but also a human rights violation of new immigrants in Canada.

Desi is a term used for all South East Asians it does not express any religion or cultural link by being Desi, so I thought I can engage CD "Desis" in to this campaign against economic barrier which is affecting every one new to Canada.

If you want to use your religion and cultural card to close this thread by all means you and CD admin are entitled to do that if this thread is not suitable for CD users.

CD is not the only networking site I am using to engage new immigrants in raising their voice against this illegal human right practice by the employer in Canada and I have received great support from all other sites including CD. 1100 + Plus people had signed the petition so far and if you read all their names and comments in the petition you will find them every person belong to every ethnic culture and country has signed the petition. Even local Canadian HR managers of the corporate companies have signed it to support the petition and one of them had commented on it as well.

Due to my campaign and other human rights group who raised this issue on every platform recently in July 2013, the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) announced as follows:

The Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on Monday launched a new policy directive denouncing the requirement for so-called “Canadian experience” as discriminatory.

“Some employers are using the Canadian experience requirement as a proxy for discrimination, which they know is illegal. But even when hidden, discrimination in employment is still against the law,” OHRC Chief Commissioner Barbara Hall told a news conference.

“The policy we are launching can help remove these barriers and give employers and regulatory bodies the tools they need to respect human rights. The starting point . . . is a simple one: insisting on Canadian experience is discrimination under the Human Rights Code.”

Creating a religion perspective from this campaign is purely your thought process and like I said earlier you are entitled to your opinion. You can put any religious or cultural spin as you like to give this campaign a different name.

When Dr. King started the voice for black Americans in USA, than not only white but also Black Americans also labelled the campaign many ways to affect Dr. King human rights campaign for black African Americans.

Similarly I knew from the start many "Desis" will give this campaign a different label to this movement according to their mind set, so I was prepared for it from the begining. My inspiration comes from Dr. King so the more label this campaign will receive the more motivation I will get to promote it further till the authorities listen to the voice of voiceless in Canada.

Dear Khawaja ji,

Thanks for being the “voice of the voiceless in Canada”(your own words).

1) I noticed that you have gone back and edited your company website to remove the main links to the “Enriched Islamic Studies”. You have also updated the website to reflect more of a service oriented content. You are fast!

2) The Toronto star link given by you does not in any way mention your efforts or the efforts of your company in bringing about the changes. Please provide proof that the OHRC directive was issued due to your efforts.

3) It is very clear that you are using the petition as a way to direct traffic to your consultancy service website .

It is only fair to request that you provide CD’s the option to remove their signatures from the petition, if they wish to.

After Immigration to Canada, I updated my education and completed the Post Graduate Certificate at in Toronto. Now I have to pay $15,000 for OSAP. Even though I had a PhD degree with more than 20 years management experience. All the degrees accredited by ICAS as Canadian equivalent.

I've been looking for a full time position , and have been actively looking for about for about 2 years now.

I've been doing actively networking with industry professionals from around the city and into other provinces to get an idea of the types of positions that are out there, as well as apply to every posting I qualify for on consulting firm websites, government websites and other local job boards. I've received meetings with some industry professionals as well to discuss my qualifications within the organization and received some interviews but still nothing has come out of it.

Now time has arrived to think seriously of how long I can live on my savings in this country I worry about myself and my family. Sometimes I feel that I lost my dignity, my pride on my knowledge and experience after landing in Canada. And now, despite of all my qualifications, I reached to the point of finding a survival job to feed my family . That,s why I really thing this situation is not fair for me and all internationally educated new comers who face employment barriers.

I am giving another six months to Canada and then after I will go back to India and will say good bye to Canadian PR for ever. I still have excellent job fair from India and now considering to return back. My kids have seen my sufferings and they do want to go back if I don't succeed in Canada.

That,s why I really thing this situation is not fair for me and all internationally educated new comers who face employment barriers should raise the voice against this so called Canadian Experience.

This is expected in Canada.
Even Canadian born Candidates are not able to find jobs these days. How will you?
Better try Gulf. India is also bad these days due to rupee fall and lower GDP growth.

Chandresh (a CD) was in the same position as you. Even he could not find a decent job for many years. However, during the boom period (2005-2008), he was able to find a good job and he is in that job still. He does not come on to CD as he is busy in his job these days.

Peace

Toronto_Guru:

I do not know exactly what positions you are applying .... but it is necessary to evaluate the situation now rather waiting for 6 more months.

Unless you are applying for IT or finance related jobs .... it is TRUE that it will be difficult to get a good job in near future. ( I am not talking about minimum wage survival jobs).

To continue your journey in Canada..

May be you need to change your line
May be you may have to start your own business ( it has its own plus, minus )
May be you need to be creative to make some thing that generates income for you

If not .... as suggested by TK, explore your options in Middle East or African Countries .... still keeping Canada as your home.

Don't wait till you run out of your savings. That will bring desperation (& frustration). I suggest you get into emergency measures right now. What change will happen in the next 3-4months.

Get aggressive, Its a "Either now or never situation for most people in situations like you".

Start making your attempts before time/money runs out.
Off-course you can survive on welfare/ social support, as some CD's will advocate here - But is this the life you had hoped for, when you decided to go to Canada.

After all "India is not that bad", there are lot of people who prosper & don't have to go to Canada. Its one life, & your kids childhood isn't going to come back again. This is the time to offer them the best of childhood memories.
Which many immigrants are unable to give to their kids...
