I got a speeding ticket (65 over 50) --52$ fine/0 demerit points. I don't think I was going at that speed, the distance between two street lights is 600 Metres (the one from where I started ) to the one where the cop was standing. He started showing me hands to pull over after 200 metres. which is approx 10 secs (if i calculate as per officer's declared speed). My car cannot speed upto 60 in 10 secs from 0 km (unless i race my car too much) which I didnt. The question here is I have no tickets on my record, and i don't know what the impact will be on insurance, I am fighting the ticket for sure, but just wanted to get 2 cents from the fellow CD members on what their opinion is.

This might have happened over the long weekend. Speed limit of 50 is typically followed very strictly so this is not unusual.
Try to get disclosure from prosecutor's office to get an idea on what criteria he used. Radar, lasor etc. I think you will be fine. Good that you are fighting the ticket, it is just the hassle to go thru anxiety and to invest time but well worth it. Points or no points insurance will always keep a ticket on record to raise the rates.

Totally agreed..little pointy but I guess AshedFC is a saint and you should not have felt a thing when some of the savings was doomed.
Easy to preach than follow eh?
I think OP's point was that he was penalized even for not making a mistake and he sort of proved too.
Moreover if enforced, every driver makes mistakes at least once everyday shouldn't all of them be penalized? Pakada gaya woh chor..

With all due respect to OP , I applaude for your judgement by one side story .
I wish court worked this way . It would have saved me some grievance .

Nope I did not give any judgement..I was just commenting on your verdict of guilty for OP and therby asking him to admit mistake. oh well.,,,
