There's a joke in Brazil - "Brazil is a developing country...and always will be". That is people making fun of government policies that don't let that country advance and become a developed nation. In India we can say that "India was a developing country...but is now underdeveloped".

However, with “first-past-the-pole” model of democracy, India was, India is and will always be hostage to a group which demonstrates strength in banding together. Identifiable groups are Muslims, Communists ( including their new Avatar Khujliwal) and SC/ST. Each of this group has benefited immensely and so called “intelligentia” of middle class has been slapped around and kicked on ass.

Modi, darling of Indian middle class, has not been able to garner support of any of the groups identified above and hence not likely to assume power.

I cannot agree more to the comment that India will always be underdeveloped.
