Another indifferent performance.

India should have lost even the first of the 2 tests, but scraped to a draw only because of Dhoni's luck. With just 16 runs to get from 2 overs, there was unfortunate run out and SA had to settle for draw.

In the decider, India was from 320 for 5 but all out for 334 in the first innings. They had not learnt from a similar slump in the first test first innings from 264 for 5 to 280 all out. No team can hope to win international matches after such indifferent performances bordering on the intentional.

From 68 for 2 on the 4th day, all they had to do was take care of the first 2 sessions of the last day. There is this curious case of Rohit Sharma from Mumbai making any number of come backs. In the first innings, he shouldered arms first ball to one pitched on the off-stump and knocking the middle. In the second he thought his 25 was good enough, got entangled in an LBW. Appears, he wants someone to photograph after he completes his each action on the field.

We had a vociferous and articulate Saurav Ganguly criticising the poor performance of Ashwin during the tour. He said "You know what, Ashwin will NOT be dropped for the second test". Ashwin deserved to be and was dropped for the second test, but you know what Mumbai quota Rohit will always be around. The media also showed Ashwin dropping a sharp ankle high slip catch any number of times but never a second time hip height sitter of sitters by Rohit Sharma.

The exception was Rahane. He seems more a quiet and efficient Maharashtrian of peninsular India than a Bollywood inspired Mumbaikar. His direct throw run out was responsible for India drawing the first test. We need more cricketers from teams like UP, Baroda,Saurashtra, Railways etc., who give their hearts out in the Ranji Trophy. It is the players from metropolitan cities who shrink work and carry unnecessary pride and vanity.

For a relatively young team this is a good outcome. Should have been better. Dhoni himself have failed as a batsmen and should make a way for the test cricket to a better player.
