I completed almost 1 and half year here.
Still I am confused regarding this. Infact I never tried seriously but...
Only universities I heard are - University of Toronto, York University, McGill University, University of British Columbia.
What each universities are doing and which program of each are well recgonized all over North America I don't know.
Anyone knowledgeable here?
Thanks.

I think for Engineering programs (especially computer science), University of Waterloo takes top honors.
York and U of T are pretty popular for their management schools.
I'm not sure about other faculties like law etc...

BlueLobster,
How do you rate UofWaterLoo as compare to those big ones in USA?

I think its top- notch. Howver, when you compare with the U.S. ivy leagues , you have to remember the funding plays a big difference. I would think that there's not much comparision in the amount of grants and alumni funding a school like Harvard gets to a school like Waterloo. Also Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton etc. have been around for over a century, with some very illustrious alumni. So besides being good schools, there's also a big prestige factor associated with them.
Waterloo does not have the "name factor" associated with it like that of a U.S. ivy league school (for that matter, no school in Canada does) however from what I've heard the engineering programs are comparable to top schools in U.S. Definately among the top 5 in Canada.

Garvo,
For business schools you could defintely check out: http://www.businessweek.com" rel="nofollow">LINK and proceed thru with the school comparator feature to get an idea on how Canadian schools fare out with top US Schools.
Obviously, I would go with a top US bsuiness school or London School of Economics, over Canadian schools . Simply becoz its more universally accepted, more well-known globally with more potential for salaries and ROI.
On a different note, I have a question for the forum participants. Being Canadian and everything, I ended up doing my Bachelor's and Master's in the US. Also, worked in the US for the last 4 years, so how would I fare out for employment in Canada? I have some networking thru friends in Canada, trying to get a feel for my potential prospects if any.
Thanks.
