And for dinner, we ate Indian food literally every day.

Overall, one of the best vacation experiences I've had, especially considering how economical it was.

Totally agree on the phone/internet part. No one was on the phone or tablet and with us in the inside room, had no idea of the time of the day. It was fantastic to let go of the day/time senses and just take it easy.

Of course, from the shores of Bahamas I had to email a few pictures to my co-workers to just rile them up :)

We went with Carnival departing from Baltimore (saved on flight costs and drove there) and ended up paying approx. 700 per person for a 7 night cruise with 3 stops (one in Florida and two in the Bahamas).

We went during US Thanksgiving so the timing helped a bit. Another trick with cruises is they drop prices from time to time. You ONLY get the difference if you call the agent you booked through. So we booked a few months ahead and then checked every few days to see if a price dropped and if yes, they would reimburse us the difference. But you have to call the agent you book through for this.

Carnival had a lousy last year with the much publicized issues with their cruise and so they dropped prices quite regularly. The total cost dropped by about $450 by the time we were ready to sail.

Baltimore cruise with Carnival for May/June shows $684 for 7 nights. This route might be offered at lower prices at all times, perhaps?

You are right - Carnival had a PR nightmare with Norovirus and what not.

Depends on the type of room you book, the balcony ones on the higher floors were about $800 - $850 when we started looking, but I'm sure there's many deals and you have to just keep looking. Our rate also included the travel insurance.

Even if you don't find the deep discounts, it is still a sweet deal. I don't know of any other medium that provides, travel, accommodation, food and so many activities at that rate. I did ok in the Casino too, which was the cherry on top :)

You are welcome.

I would welcome other members to post their variety of travel experiences (not just cruise) so we may all gain some insight.

Galapagos is one of many in my bucket list :)

I have done 7 nights Alaska trip from Vancouver and its journey of my life.
I dont remember the exact prices but overall spent 10k for family of 5 including helicopter tours on glaciers etc.,

Now i am thinking of going to mediterrnean cruise as i am in between the projects and wanted to make use of this free time.

Has any one done mediterrnean in the past, please share your itenary and experiences.
I started researching via cruisecritics, vacationstogo websites for now.
