It was dumb but then coming to think of it, they might have even been deaf and dumb.
When I posted the same status in my FB page, I got feedback from my friends that even in Chennai KFC, this is the staffing person.
I would invite CD's in other cities such as Mumbai, Delhi etc.. to inform if this is prevalent in their cities too.

In Wal-Mart, I have seen 'people of special needs' working at the entrance where they greet or put sticker on the stuff you are taking inside the store. Sometimes the provincial govt encourage employers to employee such persons and also contributes a part of their salary.

We see kindness everywhere - same as we see other emotions.....
I have seen autistic kids working at Staples - for stocking and generally greeting people. I do know of a firm in GTA - that is owned by a paraplegic and employs home bound people for call centre kind of computer jobs.
To be impressed - is natural.... There is a rush of positive emotions that rush through people when they witness such acts - I had made a point to write an appreciative mail to Staples for hiring that kid....
However, to use such a powerful and strong emotion to such negative impact ..... Tch tch.... Why???
Good to know that some North American companies are doing things in India for social cause. Hope Indian companies/businesses follow same.
It is not really a big deal and Canada has better system to address needs of such people unlike welfare programs in India ( where most of the money is eaten by the middle people).
Wow !
So Canada has not changed since I left in March 2011. Any way no poster in this forum would agree that Canada also has racism.
To reply to a poster, KFC runs as franchises in India and it will be a local guy who is a owner. So it is up to the owner to decide whom he has to staff.
Since the same is also practiced in KFC Chennai, may be the KFC India branch may include this in their CSR (Corporate social responsibility) activities.
Have to see if McDonalds India also does this. I will post in my FB page and revert.

I do not know ... what do you mean racism. If it is a prejudice, discrimination against someone who is from different community, place, region and a belief that one's own people ( people belong to their community, caste, region etc) are superior ......... then I see that is more prevailing in India than Canada.
Of course the so called racism is there in entire human history which can't be eliminated and it is in every part of the world. But certainly I see it more in India than in Canada or USA. So let us not bring the racism into discussion and start comparing.
