I am a medical student studying in India, Amritsar and have currently my Canadian PR. However, my PR status is soon going to expire as I have not been in Canada for 3 years out of 5 which is a PR requirement. I have my family in Canada who are all Canadian Citizens. Please give me suggestions as to what to do and if I could take help from a lawyer and get my PR status extended as my plans are to become a doctor and return to Canada and apply for residency.
There were a few students who landed here in Canada together with their Parents and the Parents stayed in Canada, while the child/children went to USA to study. If your case is a similar one or identical to theirs, then, you might get a chance to return and establish yourself back as a PR of Canada for the second time around.
Also people in your profession have a class of their own and are welcomed into Canada with open arms. That is as far as the Immigration system is concerned. The hurdles that you will encounter and the hoops and the loops that you will have to jump through are far too many and if you can find the thread on it, please go through the same. The worse part is that they will make you go through the same exams all over again and the Internship and the Residency programs will be made very hard to access and you might get by-passed in many a cases.
All of these are the creation of the OMB here in Ontario. Also check the other locations.
So take your chances and follow the normal route. Write to CHC there in New Delhi and get a ruling, if you can get one.
Good Luck.
FH.
Hi there, thank you so much for your reply. In the case that you mentioned above where the children went to usa to study, how did they keep their PR. I am 22 years old and would be treated as an independent candidate. Should I talk to a lawyer about this.
