Then there is this news on the shale gas. USA has cut down oil imports from OPEC by 30% since 2008, tapping its own sources. That is being touted as one of the reasons for the petroleum prices drop and unable to recover.

There is LED light which are using only 20% energy compared to the conventional filament lamps. The electricity spent for lighting it appears is 30% of the total power generated. In future, we may be spending less than 10%.The 3 Japanese innovators of the blue LED have been awarded Nobel Prize this year.

In India, people living past 80 has become common occurrence and living past 100 quite a few.
