Is the robot part of the same league? One of my friend's son participated in the FIRST robotics challenge couple of years ago and they qualified for the finals competition. That was a similar activity as you mentioned above, they had to design and construct a robot from a given set of items with specific functions and limitations on size. Eventually the robots had to take part in a competition. The team whose robot scored the most points were awarded. Points were awarded for speed, accuracy, adaptability and overall performance. Quite exciting for high school kids (10th grade) and excellent exposure to scientific concepts, team work and project execution.

Wish you good luck in your next project...

Hiren

Thanks.

Yes, the robot kit and the infinite expansions are made by Lego, only that they are digital and analog devices compatible with connectors that connect with the ordinary lego components.

Yes, what's your friend's son participated is probably same as what I am referring to above.

My son is in third grade and he is already thrilled. He was reading the 60 page EV3 technical guide and he is coming up with all sorts of crazy robot imagination. We are going to start small, learn and then form a team later this year.

It's a great age for your son to get into Lego and a great age for you to dish out some big money to buy the sets :)

Amazon (US site) generally has a wider variety to choose from and is usually 15 to 40% cheaper than retail stores.

Congrats, Dimple! Nice work!

My daughter's lego fanaticism continues to grow (in the Lego friends area). I find myself dropping more and more g's every now and then on the bigger sets :-). Very happy with it though, so much better than Barbie dolls IMHO...

Thank you.

Happy to hear about your daughter's interest. The mom of the only girl in my lego team reported that her daughter has now immersed herself and her two sisters into lego.

Anyway, my EV3 robotic set just arrived and I am salivating :)

This sounds interesting. I am quite a handyman of the house with a deep interest in Electro/Mechanical. With my son growing up (almost 3), and showing the same shades of interests I think this would be great add-on towards his skills.

Thanks Dimple and a good job. I am certainly going to look into it.

Thank you. For younger children, Lego has many components - gears, pulleys, spools, etc - to create a "junior" level moving part models. If you want something fancy, you can buy a battery-motor pack which comes with a battery, motor and a switch. For beginners, it's thrilling.
