Each University has its own requirements in their Language Assessment. So, it becomes difficult for me to generalize and tell you that it is O.K. But you do have a high standing in IELTS, but the Reading Module is a lot lower and so an upgrade is desired, prior to applying for any entrance.

What I would advice you to do is to appear for the next available exam with IELTS and simultaneously see where you want to get into for your Management studies here in Ontario, if Ontario is your preference. So, you know that you will be getting in, if they say it is sufficient to let you into the next years entry, if not you will be six months or so behind and could do the upgrading in the reading module by then.

Bear in mind that the fees for international students are double that of the locals, and so see if anyone has a co-op program, (Which I have not explores as yet) which will provide you with a lot of financial relief, if an entry is obtained into one and will make your life a lot smoother and stress free from the start.

"English Testing Canada Limited. :

The IELTS test is available in two formats: academic and general training. The academic version is necessary for admission to the University of Toronto. The minimum IELTS score required is 7.0 with at least 6.5 in each component.

Good Luck.

Thanks a lot for your response. Could you please throw some light on the provincial nominee program. Do all provinces have the PNP. And how does this program work.
I intend to do a 1 Year PG course and then work and settle down in Canada. Will the PNP be beneficial for me ? Please advice.

YES, each and every Province has its own Immigration needs and a PNP Program. I will provide you with all of the links and to an application form also. Try and save them as a personal mail from now on, as the website has gone down for substantial periods and you will do better when you have all of the links and material in your e-mail or in your computers. After you go through the links, decide for your self.

ALSO, as suggested, if you IMMIGRATE, you will benefit better, financially and time wise.

I WILL TAKE ONE PROVINCE AS AN EXAMPLE : Which is Ontario.......:
Opportunities Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
As Canada’s most populous province, Nearly 40 per cent of Canadians call Ontario home. Ontario is also home to Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, and its largest city, Toronto. In many ways, Ontario is the center of Canada’s economic, social, and political life, making it Canada’s most popular landing destination for immigrants from around the world. Provincial Nominee Program is called Opportunities Ontario. Through this program, prospective immigrants with the skills and experience targeted by the province may receive an Ontario Provincial Nomination Certificate, which will allow foreign nationals to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence with processing times that are faster than other Canadian immigration classes.

Opportunities Ontario accepts applications under three immigration categories. :

General Category;
International Students Category; and
Investors Category.

Each these categories may have one or more sub-categories. Below we provide you with additional information about each of these categories to help you determine if the Opportunities Ontario Program is right for you.
General Category

Through this category, Ontario employers are able to recruit employees from abroad for approved skilled positions (classified by the Government of Canada as “NOC 0, A or B level”). These employees may be living abroad or in Canada at the time of application.

International Students Category.
This category is for students from abroad. The International Students Category accepts applications under the following sub-categories:

International Student with a Job Offer Stream — This sub-category was created to help employers recruit international students. It is open to Ontario employers and students with job offers in the province.

International PhD Graduate Stream — This sub-category targets individuals who have graduated from a PhD program at one of Ontario’s publicly funded universities. A job offer is not required.

Pilot International Masters Graduate Stream — This sub-category, which is currently operating as a temporary pilot program, targets individuals who have graduated with a Master’s degree from one of Ontario’s publicly funded universities. A job offer is not required.

Investors Category.

This category allows companies that are making an investment in Ontario to recruit or retain important employees by allowing those employees to immigrate to Canada, thus ensuring the success of the company’s investment. Applicant employees should be integral to the functioning of the company.

Hey pertaining to the above I have completed my IELTS and got an overall score of 7 with no less than 6. I was initially planning on taking up a one year course but people told me that with a one year course i will get a work permit of only one year and hence they suggested its better to do a two year course with which I will get a 3 year work permit. Besides that based on what factors should I select a college/university. Please advice which province is better BC or Ontario in order to apply for PR.

If you can get into a co-op program which could be a degree program, then you will not have much of a difficulty in studies or financial one too. It makes life very stress free for three years. But you must keep up your grades. That is very important.

You will need some vocational guidance as we know very little about you. After you decide upon your career path you can apply to a University that has the co-op program in their curriculum. Get accepted into it first, then work towards getting a student visa.

The next set of factors are, based upon any help that you can obtain in getting accommodations and food from any relatives or friends that will ease a lot of burden upon your finances. If it is close by your University, then the transportation problem also gets resolved.

Just in the passing, most of the students after entering into Canada can get a work permit to supplement their income during the weekends and breaks and it has made their life a little easier for them.

These are few of the features that I will put forward to students as suggestions who want to get into Canada for studies.

Good luck.

FH.
