I had some 12 years ago landed in Canada and processed my PR Card including for all family. My daughter was 6 years old then. We did not continue and left Canada after 2-3 weeks of stay. Never renewed the PR card as we did not qualify the 3 years stay at all. Now my daughter is 18 years old and has admission offer from UBC as international applicant .I want to apply for her student visa but fear whether all will go well.

I also want to apply for my visit visa to accompany her for admission to Canada. Please advise whether CIC can complicate or delay her visa because of past PR card history. In the application we will have to mention about our past visit to Canada and we don't want to hide anything as our intention has been clear .

There shouldn't be any problem.
Let her / you enclose a small note, cover letter explaining things. In the letter ... you may say that you came back and never went to canada again as you have decided to stay in home country only.

Sajmad,
your / your daughter's previous PR will have no effect on the student visa. So apply peacefully.

Getting a student visa depends on the documentation done, marks got and financial stability of the student.

Good luck !

If the OP had planned properly & had tried to revive or renew her ( i.e daughter's ) PR card a couple of years back, she could have avoided paying international student fees , which are a lot higher.

She could have just paid PR fees, which are much lower.

Ofcourse he didn't know that she would be getting admission in a CDN university & coming here .

How much yearly fee is she paying per yr at UBC as an international student ? Its usually 5 times what she would have paid as a PR.

http://students.ubc.ca/enrolment/finances/tuition/undergraduate-tuition-fees

Domestic vs International :

For the purpose of tuition charges, the classification between domestic and international students is based on citizenship/permanent residency.

Domestic:
Canadian citizens or permanent residents (as well as refugees and diplomats)

International:
All applicants without Canadian citizenship or permanent residency in Canada (landed immigrants), including US citizens, are international students.

If you hold multiple citizenships and one of these is Canadian, you will be a domestic student.

Thank you adamthorat. As you mentioned this was unavoidable and we have no choice but to pay more as either she will go to Canada or US for undergraduate studies.

Thanks also to Gurram and tamilkuravan. The form asks whether she ever tried applying to Canada . The answer probably I will put is YES, although she was a minor and I was the principal applicant for her. Moreover she entered Canada hence she will have to also say YES if she ever entered Canada in the past.

The thing to note is why people get glued to Canada even after so many years of having given up their own chance of staying here. in this case, the OP had come here on PR 12 years ago, and went back within a month............and still got glued to CD for all these years...........Seems like the desire to live in Canada never went away even though it must have been a conscious decision that NOT living in Canada was a better option!!
