I dont give advice if i don't believe:

When i say subway franchise , i was refering for startup business only with small amount

You get subway in rural area under 50 to 70 k which is easily achievable.

Subway hold good value and its not easy to finance some portion from bank.

so many, i say SO MANY couple have build their future with Subway ( i know them personally )

most reputed, secure and easy operation - now if you don't work hard and manage cash then no business works.

AGAIN: folks , if you want to start something in your life look into subway - its not bad

BTW: on side note, i don't own subway :) :) nor i m representative of subway - i m simply trying to guide less expensive way to start business

other Franchise - good or bad - its an another topic , which i don't want to comment

I have a neighbour who is Mexican who buys 1-2 properties on cash and keeps it for 2-3 yrs and sells it for 100-150k more without doing anything and making money. He stays on the property and improves the property by doing handyman job like painting and fixing fences and cleaning up etc. His property sells coz he still sells for less than market value. :)

We have few vegetarian restaurants in islington/Albion like Brar, Rajdhani and Bengal sweets which is alwys crowded. :)

I know few people( north indian and one gujju) they wanted start food business/regular grocery store but do not wanted deal with any meat items.

regular grocery store option will not work as most white folks buy meat and other nonveg stuff

I have been to this restaurant chain a few times and enjoyed the food each time. Unfortunately all their locations are downtown, so cannot visit often.

vegetarian/vegan food franchise can be another option - we used to have "Le commensal" (veg food chain) in downtown Toronto not sure if it still exist or not

Le commensal is very good franchise but u need rich area and probably downtown is best. I think its closed in toronto so you can approached and find out.

You can also check-out Niagara Falls - there are no 100% Vegetarian restaurant. this could be a good place to start ( but be carefull its seasonal city , you must move there, you must know how to cook ( hard to find cook ) - start small and grow big

Find place close to casino .. may be bit expensive but worth it , cause u only have traffic whole year in that area ....

niagara falls has lot of indian tourist from usa/canada - lot of gujju as well...

also, you can sell Veg Thali - lot of students in niagara falls due to niagara college easy school entry.

BTW: Le commensal do very good in Montreal

I would stay away from the hair cut business. (not that it is not very profitable but that it depends on underserved location)

Any business that is easy to do has already been taken over by other immigrants.

In all universities / colleges, there are students who do haircuts at $ 5 (Machine cutting). You canot get customers there.

At Dundas-Hurontario, there are many people cutting for $ 8 a cutting.

I used to cut with a Pakisthani in Dundas Huontario. It always used to be crowded (it was also a facial and eye brow spot). I paid $ 8 (in 2010) and the time spent on me was around 20 mins.

If somebody can watch how Gora's cut their hair and what their habits are, we can tap into a potential money spinning market as Gora males are not too much concerned about money. About Gori's, I am not sure, but in my office they always used to visit a hair cutter once in every 3 months and in my conversations with them, understood that there were many spots for Gori's to cut their hair.

It is a good business when you find an area which is underserved.

Murali.
