People are resisting change because Charcha means discussion. This is a discussion forum and not copy/paste forum. You copy/paste anything without your comment or input then people are going to object, be it bombarding the forum with random Whatsapp forwards, random email forwards, random news articles with just a link with no comments of your own, bombarding the forum with random jobs in US, etc. I know this ties your hands but in essence it is a discussion forum, discuss with respect - not personal attacks. If you want to copy/paste stuff without any input from you, this probably is not the site for you. You can do so in your Facebook, Whatsapp groups or copy all your Facebook message to Whatsapp group and vice-versa, etc.

As for the jobs you posted, do you really think someone with 8 years of Software Testing experience, 10 years of Java experience and BA with 10 years of experience who specializes in Finance and Mortgage cannot go to job sites themselves and apply? What are the chances these people are struggling to find jobs? All these job postings are in US through a recruiter, so how come they are going to help someone with their first job in Canada? You were guaranteeing jobs within one month for IT people in Canada if they apply through Workopolis and Monster, now you coming to CD and posting all senior level IT jobs located in US claiming to "help people."

The jobs you have posted are not at all aimed at new immigrants in Canada. There is no point in pulling totally RANDOM jobs from job sites, facebook, etc., and posting them on CD.

Purpose of jobs section was to help people if you have jobs in your company where you can refer or you are creating jobs in your company or business, you can post here. There is also a separate section on CD for jobs http://canadiandesi.com/jobs.php" target="_blank">http://canadiandesi.com/jobs.php</a>

If someone does not know how to apply for jobs, need help with resumes, etc., they really need to attend job search workshops conducted at various newcomer help centers.

There are lot of agencies like Dixie-Bloor who can help new immigrants with their job search, polishing resumes, etc. http://www.dixiebloor.ca/" target="_blank">http://www.dixiebloor.ca/</a> Posting random senior level IT jobs in US is of no help to new immigrants.

How about people who took break of say 10-15 yrs and now thy are looking for job opportunities?? Things esp networking changes over a period of time.

Wat u are telling is networking which is called vashila/influence in India. This is democratic country and everybody should hv equal chance of getting employment. don't u think so?

Not really sure what you are trying to say.

About last statement, all I can say it is a very theoretical and ideological statement that in a democratic country everyone should have a equal chance of getting a job. Unfortunately job market does not work that way. Job market can favor people with networking skill, can favor locals, can favor people with experience over inexperienced, etc. It is just the way it is. If there is one job and 100 people lined up for it, employer can pick and choose who they select. There is a great deal of struggle for jobs even for those who were born in Canada and did their education in Canada seeking entry level jobs after their university.

I'll suggest two paths by which someone can make an impact by posting job opportunities:

1. If you are a hiring manager who has direct influence/control in hiring for your team in your organization, by all means, post that opportunity. You control the outcome for the most part and therefore, it is of reasonable benefit to potential candidates. I've had the opportunity to hire one candidate (off CD) to my team through this method.

2. If you have, and are in regular communication with a recruiter or two (or worked with a recruiter through which you were hired in the past), where the recruiter is contacting you in the hopes of finding a candidate you might know within your industry/field, then perhaps there is some benefit in posting that opportunity.

I get almost daily emails from several recruiters promising grandiose jobs, but most of them are leeches who want you to do their jobs. I also have a few recruiters (3 in specific) with whom I am in regular contact and connected through social websites. One of them has found me a job in the past, and the other two have obtained interviews in the past.

I have posted a few of these positions on CD, and I have received responses from potential candidates. In this case, I have no control over whether the candidate would get hired, but I have been given the leeway to offer opinion whether a potential candidate might be a good fit or not.

Oh no please , spare us :)

Dude - I get 5 job postings , 3 real estate forwards , 10 emails and 25 jokes every day ..Plus I read at least 4 news dailies every day ..... not to mention the FB jokes and whatsapp forwards ..

Imagine how would the forum look like , if I posted all these ..just because I wish to share them with my CD friends ........ The dish would be bitter with salt ....

CD is not a news site , not a job site , not a joke site , not a whatsapp forward site , not a real estate site and yet everything in moderation is acceptable ....

What is CD -- its a forum for likeminded desis to come and discuss things close to their heart thereby helping other CDs or new comers in the bargain .... To answer and contribute to newcomer as well as experienced people's queries as much as we wish to ..

An occassional news item , real estate discussion , joke and all is all acceptable and does not change the fabric but when you start posting 10 jobs in one day and that too from job sites , or you start posting 10 jokes a day .... that spoils the fabric of CD .

You went to a promo /publicity event , you discussed it and were given reasonable advise ... Thats precisely what CD is meant for .....

As others have pointed , if you come across inside job openings , please pass them on on the forum. Otherwise direct proplre to appropriate job boards and they should be able to help themselves...

Lets not over do / undo our contribution to CD by excesively posting things more relevant to other places ... lets discuss things close to our heart and be happy man or happy woman :)

Lastly the moderators are excellent people who moderate very less and allow us to participate in all discussions and interfere only when lines are crossed .... Lets respect them and their opinion.

I am sure a person who has got 10-15 years of experience would not be coming to CD to look for job opportunities and that too from a specific recruiter posted by HW36.

For a new person US opportunities mean less ....

This may even raise a suspicion if the said recruiter has encouraged you to post openings on CD ... well she would not lose anything , would she ? ... Just tell her to go elsewhere.
