How about men AT? Thy don't wear burqa and I think it's men who are protesting. I think women wanna join yoga since it's the only chance thy will get to remove burqa and breath easily.

Its hard for Muslim women to do Yoga wearing their Burqa. They can't put their legs up in the air while wearing a Burqa & doing Yoga..hence they are protesting.

Guys,
Please keep religion out of discussion here. We don't need to drag the discussion in another direction.
Thanks.

The views expressed were not mine. I got a different web page when I searched and it had the "Quote" in that and I just pasted it to provide a different view and outlook and the comments made upon the Yoga Display conducted by P.M.Modi.
If I offended anyone or any religious minded group, it was not intentional. It was one such remarks made by them that was brought to your attention.
In the first link they made a correction. Here is another reproduction of the same.

Many groups practice YOGA and it has caught on as a beneficial exercise routine and praise such activities that provide and maintain flexibility of the body, mind and soul and extend their life span to top it off. Yoga has been different things to different people and all of them do not praise its benefits and virtues. A few will object to its usage and propagation due to its origins and practice.
Different folks, different strokes.
Not being able to maintain such postures for a prolonged period, I took to TAI-CHI and found it to be my testing grounds. But it does not provide nor expand it to the breathing field, that which it lacks.
If on a day, I am unable to flex myself with these easy exercises, I limit my work routines to suit my body movements.

A few Muslim groups have complained that chanting the sacred Hindu sound of "Om" during yoga and certain poses, such as "surya namaskar" or sun salutation, have clear Hindu overtones and were against Islam.
Why we practice YOGA? Is it because it is against Islam? Mmmm... What Next !

What am objecting to is their interference and criticism about other religions, their dress and food. They should stick to their religion belief and should not poke their nose in their religion. Is that asking too much??

This discussion was supposed to be purely about Yoga, its benefits and information related to yoga.
It is absolutely DISGUSTING that meaningless points have been inserted into this discussion to spoil the environment.
There are threads which are specifically meant for political and religious discussion, please take it and leave this thread alone for meaningful discussion.
Thank you.
Rajagopal.
How is it meaningless RG when they start objecting to yoga?? I would say they are disgusing when they oppose yoga. They don't want their women to go for Yoga... fine, control them and keep them at home but don't oppose during International yoga day. How would they feel if we write like this or oppose their Ramadan fasting and festival.
