Since I have driven the Swift Diesel , how does the Indica EV2 LX drive in relation to it ... say on a scale of 10 ..Can we expect 7-8 ?

My experience says that Tata Cars are only good for Cab services (Call Centres pick and drop, anyone?). They die quicker, the chassis after a few years starts making too much noise when passing through potholes, and the overall quality is not that great. They may be sturdy, but not a fun to drive.

Go for Maruti anyday. A bit lighter than Tata's and at least looks like a family car, if not more.

Maruti has a better resale than Tata's.

I agree with FB, go with Maruti. But be cautious about Alto ...its a very tiny car and also consider what will happen if it gets into an accident. There also Hyundai cars to consider.

However, if the choice is between Alto and Indica, my vote is towards Indica purely from a passenger safety perspective.

Also for the manufacturer it raises liability if something goes wrong, so I think they will take this matter very seriously.

We do not know whether it was done by the Dealer or the car as such supplied by MUL with these unheard of brand of tyres in Indian market. But the Dealer did say it was the latter. Our contention was the tyres fitted must be to the customer's confidence. But the Dealer says MUL would not accept these brand of tyres as OE without proper in-house, road test etc. If the tyres have to be changed it will be at customer's cost and we will lose warranty.

Better to insist before buying, our preferred brand of tyres or back out if otherwise.

There were about a 5 or 6 cars put up on the showroom floor and all of them had tyres like Bridgestone, MRF, Apollo etc. But only when the gullible buyer comes to collect his car, he would not find any of these tyre brands but some imported tyre, bought in container loads and which may give half the life than the mentioned brands. There is the lurking danger of blow out on highways which anyway MUL or the Dealer will duck when and if questioned.

TK: To avoid any malpractice w.r.to tyres by Service Centres, better to mark the tyres with some identification with yellow rubber crayon and check for the same.

In India whether it is hot water mixed with tea sold at railway stations or cheating on tyres or battery, all these seem to be Standard Operating Procedure.

Apart from this, why nobody is mentioning WagonR? Is it such a bad option? It was toss up between WagonR and K10. We preferred the former because of better seating comfort, comparable engine and fuel efficiency.

ramar2005, even though you are accusing the dealer of fraud, it does not seem that you have contacted MUL or even contemplating it. If MUL says those are OEM, there is nothing much you can do about it.

Wagon R is very good but the OP asked only between Indica and alto. Wagon R may have slightly bigger room than Alto but it has a huge height and is the choice for tall people. It has lot of headroom.

Wagon R is the best small car from Maruthi. Alto is the best seller (due to its low cost in the maruth family). Wagon R may be slightly more expensive (and it is not a good looking car) but I think it has the same Alto K-10 (award winning Engine).

I find it suspect that the showroom displays Bridgestone / other standard makes .... Are those cars not supplied by MUL ?

Appears to me as some quick buck made by the MUL dealer which has gone un contended.... Please check with MUL..

Bad tires can have a direct impact on your safety and one should not compromise on that .

Regarding WagonR , well he didn't mention it but I will surely pass on that to him ...

Assuming WagonR LXi would be 4 lacs and Indica LX 5 lacs , does the choice tilt towards Indica or Wagon R considering that the Indica is diesel and in an upper segment ??
