I am not sure about myself but my future generations would be 'Canadianised' as much as yours as well , and come to think of it , it is us who are instrumental to that transition .

(I call myself an Indo Canadian and am not hypocritical in stating that I left India because of the weaknesses and shortcomings I found there . I wonder if patriotism was yours or HW36's reasons for leaving India , renouncing Indian citizenship and applying & accepting Canada's )

Technically, we are not Indians anymore. Even Indian constitution has abandoned us the moment we obtained the Canadian citizenship.

It doesn't have to do with 'being Gora'. Emotionally, we may call ourselves 'Indo' or 'Indian' and carry some facets of Indianness on our sleeves, but we are as much Canadian as the next door born/raised up Canadian. I don't say this, but very much imbibed in the Canadian constitution.

Of-course, I can't and will never forget my Indian roots and love to be associated to the country I originated from; as well as keep visiting my home there, but we are at best 'Indo-Canadians'. Well, actually it's upto you as to what you may need to call yourselves. No one needs to explain or justify their love either to their Nation of birth and/or where they have immigrated to. Each to its own.

Kya karun Fidoji.... shadi ke baad ladki ko sasural Jana padta hai. Mere pati ghar jamai banne ke khilaf hai. ;)

Pati jidar wahin patni ki jagah right. Aap kis wajah se dubai/canada mein ho.:(

Aur ek baat. .jo apne desh ka nahi ho saka, woh kisi aur desh ka nahi ho sakta hai. :)

Biggest Hypocrisy ... when people who desert India for the very ills they see there , leave it and then claim their patriotism after renouncing their Indian citizenship ....

If you were so patriotic , you would have stayed back and worked toward its betterment . not been an escapee yourself ;)

Beti sasural aane ke baad, na hi maike ko bhool sakti hai, na uska bura soch ya bardaast kar sakti hai. Same is the relationship for me b/w india and canada. I cannot think bad of India nor Canada. I love both countries equally and my loyalty is twds both the countries. Cheers!

I bet you are indirectly saying the same for your husband ... kudos :)

(And BTW , you could have still stayed as an Indian Citizen and stayed a PR but you chose to switch )

Your monologues are great ~ I am reminded of something similar since you believe so deeply in these comparisons.

'Joh apne baap kee na ho sakee woh kisi aur kee kyaa hogee ' ;)

All these patriotism talk & these pseudo comparisons are a very good abstract mood elevator but the fact remains that if you could stay behind @ Disney World in the Hotel against your husband's wishes , you could convinced the same to him IF you felt India was better ....

We say something else but we seem to do entirely opposite .... and the provide our excuses but in the end , actions always speak louder than words !!

Do u think...I didn't try Fido. My husband clearly told me it's abroad or let's parts our ways. I don't dislike abroad. Patriotic doesn't mean u don't like or u hate abroad. It simply means u love and care for ur homeland as much as u care for Canada. I don't know why do I try to explain small children like this. :(

My patriotism is for Canada aftr I took my oath but I shall not tolerate any talk against India frm anybody. Jis desh ka namak 28-30 saal khaya hai, uske sath wafadari bhi tho honi chahiye ki nahi.
