On the CIT0001E form, ?Application for Citizenship Certificate for Adults and Minors?, Question #8 asks:
?Did this parent leave Canada for more than 1 year before 1977??
If the answer is, ?Yes?, the form asks for:
?From (YYYY-MM-DD)? and ?To (YYYY-MM-DD)?.
This, to me, is rather vague. Do they want the ?from? and ?to? dates only prior to 1977, or, do they want the ?to? date if it was later than 1977?
Example, my mother left Canada in 1946 and never lived there again. Do I fill out:
From: 1946 To: (Her date of death)?
or,
From: 1946 To: 1977?
Thanks for any insights.
The question it seems, DID SHE Leave Canada for more than ONE YEAR prior to 1977?
The Answer id YES.
Dates From 1946 to 1977 Between the periods that they are seeking the absence.
(The rules did change after that. May be that they don't want to know what happened after the year 1977. But I need to see the form if you can quote the number and the Page where this question appears, to get a complete grasp of the their procedure and why they are so specific. Please provide the date of last amendment on that form that you are filling. It is at the bottom of the last page.

CIT 0001 (03-2016) E
Thanks.
Yes I was searching for the same and got it. I was correct. It only pertains to the periods upto 1977. and NOT to the current or any period beyond that (1977)
FH.
I Edited it in my previous response to provide the details, as the page for posting was still open in my response, in my computer.
Thank you very much.
