I got my first speeding tickets $40. Cop recorded my speed 69.9 in 50 zone but he gave me tickets and reduce 60. no merit points deducted.

Kindly advise I have clean driving record for last 15 years, not a single ticket. I wan to keep it clean.

What should I do, should I pay the ticket or fight. If fight what reason.

Thanks in advance.

First ticket in 15 years - you are a good driver. If the reason you wish to fight is insurance, I dont think you need to worry - it will most probably have no effect on your insurance.

However, if a ticket effects your employment and future career prospects you can try to fight it - though the cost of fighting will be more than the cost of ticket.

Please use search in charcha and you will come across a few ticket fighting and advising forums recommended by other posters.

Good luck.

RADAR..

There are so many reasons we do things our way. See if it suits your needs and if it is going to be your own way. You decide the same for yourself.

Thank you very much. I want to ask cop said I have not taken your demerits point. He put code R on my ticket. what is means.

I don't see any explanation in the MTO driving Jargon, for the letter 'R'.

It is my opinion that it might just mean REDUCED in the Police Jargon and the JP there might be able to access the Cop's report over the electronic system and when you dispute it, they will bring it up on the screen and charge you with the exact Radar Readings from the Hand Held Device and fine you accordingly with the higher fine and demerit points to go with it.

This looks like a money making process for the police department.

Now they are into the RED LIGHT Cameras too and we will see many more at the intersections as time progresses. That is the future of the Technology world.

Learn to live with it. Driving at the posted speed will be the order of the day and it beats walking.

R stands for 'REDUCED' speed ticket . If convicted in court than Judge can fine you for the full speed . Advise is from first hand experience.

As always , I would suggest you to fight it.

There are variables which come into play if you do for eg; the cop not showing up OR him filing the ticket late or some other technical ground like 11b .

As is you still get the sweetest deal from the Prosecutor just before the Trial ... You do not lose on anything till then.
