Is there any new update about this ridiculous situation? I can't fly to India to exchange $300. Utter chaos and confusion in India makes it very clear how much planning was done. And how much care this administration has for Indians and Indians in other countries
In India people will still find a way to exchange the money but we are doomed

अभी 12 तारीख की शादियां जो फाईव स्टार रिसोर्ट में बुक थी, रद्द हुई हैं। क्यों रद्द हुईं? इसलिये कि कालाधन यहाँ खपने वाला था और अब दे नहीं सकते थे। इस दीवाली पर मिठाई वाले ने, नमकीन वाले ने, ड्रायफ्रूट वाले ने, कपड़े वाले ने और भी छोटे-मोटे व्यापारी ने जमकर कमाया था, लेकिन कोई भी टेक्स देने के मूड में नहीं था, तभी तो यह समय चुनकर विमुद्रीकरण का कदम उठाया गया। अब रजत शर्मा कह रहे हैं कि इस समय के बाद करना चाहिये था। बेईमान की कमायी करने वालों के पक्ष में जो भी बोल रहा है, वह क्या संदेश दे रहा है? मतलब साफ है ? चौर-चौर मौसरे भाई।

Actually rule allowed Rs25,000 (last increase); also like other things in India ... multiple rules were in place. Nobody knew what rule to follow.

Speaking of law, sending money by courier isn't allowed. If it is not "too much", why Modi doesn't allow NRI/OCI to change upto max Rs 250,000 (like in India). After all, this is NOT black money, or terrorist money. In fact, he can collect our PAN card, OCI card, Passport whatever he needs to check that we have paid taxes.

But MODI needs to maintain his honour.

Right now, he shows arrogance to NRI/OCI

Please try to understand that If government tried to plan everything in advance then black money holders get alerted and had made their arrangements to negotiate their black money . The success of this drive is 100% depends upon of secrecy and surprise so that black money holders , terrorists , anti national elements do not get any time to dilute this move .
I accept your right to keep harsh view on Modi but try to understand the things from the government perspective .

I called CGI Toronto (416-960-0760), asked me to call 4169600751/52 which goes in loop (nobody picks up).

Called 613 744 3751 (HCI Ottawa), lady at least answered and said she has no further info.

Upon telling her that we have only 45 days, no feedback from them. Told them who else can I contact, she hung up on me.

Next, I called Mr. Navtej Sarna 202 939 7010 (USA Ambassador), secretory picked she told me has no info, asked me to call RBI. I asked her somebody has to raise this issue with modi. And Ambassador should do this.

She replied that she has no line to speak to Modiji.

Looks like everybody is afraid to give him feedback.
