Hi Biomed,
your suggestion is most welcome. I endorse your view and suggestion completely. Scheduling the 2nd PICNIC by Aug end would be a great idea. As we don't want to reduce the interest by arranging it immed. As regard the place, we have HIGH PARK, right besides LAKESHORE. Beautiful place for a PICNIC. Other suggestions are welcome. We can also arrange games like BINGO or HOUSIE. We must arrange our own Bat & Ball not to miss the evergreen game of CRICKET(If any member has one, pl cfm).
The schedule to follow should be similar as it was on 17th July. But every effort should be made to arrive on time, so we can have a quick introduction session, as every time there would be few FIRST TIMERS.
Fellow members, pl suggest your view, comments and suggestions.

Hi All, (Especially Garvo Gujarati),
I've read all the posts on picnic, guess I had actually experienced the joy , no jokes I could feel the excitement on the forum reading all the preparations and arrangements being discussed and finalised on the forum.
One thing I am sure of I am not going to feel lonely when I'll be there with all of you friendly desis around.
All the best for the 2nd Picnic , keeping my fingers crossed, may be I could be there to enjoy.

Hi all,
We were third family reached there with Mr. Vimal Khullar. It was really so nice seeing lot of desies there and interacting with them. Hope some of them would come up as long lasting friends.
The presence of desies was thin as per my expectations. Most of families came late. Still we enjoyed a lot. All thanx to organizers. I personally welcome Mr rahul and Mr. Tapas who are very new immigrants . I again assure these friends to ask for any sort of help.
Suggestion of second picnic is a welcome step. It can be organized in last week of Aug or fisrt of week of Sept. I would prefer seeing more desies attending it. We can add more games. Pl. note all who consent to come follow puncuality and time schedule. I personally do not much about picnic spots hence pthers suggestions are welcome.
Regards.

Looking forwrad to seeing you all
Should we have picnic out side GTA, about 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs drive from GTA?
Prithy - any good place around your city?
We should keep it at the end of August.
I have one concern. Should we have so many picnics?

The picnic turned out to be a really good event - and though I reached late due to some prior appointments and ill health (which has now put me in bed - almost!), I was extremely happy to see the gathering.
However, many of the EXPECTED ones did not turn up and that surprised me a lot - Sanjiv Manocha, Sanjiv Gupta, Jyoti Kaushik, Beauty Salon, Mishter India, Sudhish Pai, Daks etc. I hope these guys will be able to make it up next time.
I am known to spoil everything good that happens on CD (gifted you may say in a particular aspect!). So I will do it once again.
One thing I noticed very conspicuously was that while children participated extremely well in fun activities, the adults were shy and not outcoming (except a couple I think). Most of us say that we have come to Canada either for our children's good future or to have a better life ourselves. One thing that we have to learn to be successful in Canada is to be a bit extrovert or atleast participative in all activities. If we as adults and parents cannot do that, how will we be able to instill this trait in our children - who will need it badly in Canada when they grow up.
It is time we change ourselves to adapt to the good aspects of Canadian culture - not being shy in a big group, specially in your own desi group. Let us have more participation from the adults, so that our children can learn from us to be more fun loving, more social, and atleast be confident of being able to mix well and enjoy the good times in a really nice and fun manner.
And the easiest way to start throwing away inhibitions is with the Canadian Desi family - where we are new for each other, but still a family! So also a note for Vimal - who did a wonderful job of organising EVERYTHING - next time bring prizes for adults too!!!
So, let's have another picnic - this time for lunch, since I think everyone left before dinner.
