business opportunity

Hi CDs,

I had the pleasure of attending the meeting and the concept of this business opportunity explained to me. Of course, it was nothing new. It was Quixtar. (Incidently it happened to be my third encounter of this kind.)

My hosts-Mr. and Mrs. Jbhansg136-have been with Quixtar (or its Indian avatar) back home and are pretty enthusiastic about it. They believe wholeheartedly in the concept and its viability as a source of income. I wish them best of luck and success.

I suggested that they should avail the free offer of advertising in classifieds or businesses sections of the canadiandesi.

The question that bothers me the most is: Why even after believing in the concept, people are so reluctant in openly admitting that they work for Quixtar?

People are not no more foolish. They invit people without giving any hints for business. Many people invits me for business opportunities without giving any hints and I said NO, if you can not give any hints then its business like Quixtar or Amway etc.

Even when I asked that its a Amway ? then they told me that NO. but it was Amway and they speak lie and try to foolish you.

:D.

Here's an easy way to figure this out without having to attend meetings. Say you're busy doing your Sunday shopping and someone you dont' know walks up to you and invites you to a "meeting" about a great business opportunity (they usually try to start with more casual conversation, i.e. Where are you from? How long have you been here? etc etc.). Now your first inclination will be to ask them what the business is about. If you get a roundabout answer or they refuse to tell you that before the meeting, tell them "No thanks!" and walk on. If they still bug you, raise your voice, threaten to call the store manager and walk away.

Also, don't ever respond to fliers on tree-trunks that promise 10,000 bucks a week from home.

Simple as that!

Are you there?

because in north america, even amway, the parent company of quixtar is ashamed of being called amway... which is why they morphed into quixtar.. its the same thing, but nowhere on any website, documentation etc will the name of amway be mentioned... its like it simply dissapeared...

why this happened? just do a search on google if you want to read all the horror stories...

oh btw... if any quixtar people are reading, i will just pre-empt you and post what your standard reply will be to the above to save you the time and effort of typing...

"you should not believe everything you read on internet... you should not believe what you hear from other people... they are bad mouthing quixtar because they are jealous that we are rich and have financial freedom and they do not... quixtar and its affiliates strongly discourage you from finding out about amway/quixtar on the internet because everything on internet is LIE... "

Oh yes! That reminds me of an exactly similar episode that happened with me. It was during the early days after I had landed in Canada. I was shopping on Gerrad Street and feeling nice to see all the desis around. You know how it is at that time when you are new in this country and every desi face appears to be long lost friend. This desi guy who looks pretty decent and well mannered walks upto me and says "Hi". I " Hi"ed back and as it is during those early days when you are looking to befriend people, any desi anywhere, and it feels nice if someone is extends a friendly hand. So we get talking and ask each other where we come from, how long have we been here and what are we doing etc etc. Well, to the last question, this nice looking chap says pretty confidently that he is into E-buisness. "Wow!" I say to myself, feeling pretty impressed, especially since in those days anyone involved in anything remotely "E" was like being a money minting machine. So I ask him more about this "E-business" of his - what exactly he deals in, what is his product and market segment. This nice guy answers very sweetly" It is difficult to explain it here. But I am looking for partners and if you are interested I invite you to my house and we can discuss the details. " He also gives a sing-song of selling products on the internet and assured returns of thousands of dollars. I ask him "What is the likely investment?" and he says "You won't believe it. Nothing except diligent work and that too from home. " That gets me pretty excited and interested. Nothing to invest except work. Well THAT is the one commodity that I have plenty to give! The idea that it could be a scam does come to me and had the same episode happened in India I would have walked away from the guy long before. But here I reject it. This is Canada. It is my belief that desis here help each other. I can't imagine a nice desi like him trying to pull a fast one on a fellow desi. And then finally as they say, one never knows when opportunity knocks. So, I take his address and feel quite grateful to this guy who can meet a total stranger in a shop and is so nice to extend and invitation to his house for tea. I go home and narrate this incident to one of my friends who had been here a little longer. I expect him to eat his heart out at my success. Instead he laughs and tells me that it is nothing more than Amway(that is what it used to be called then). He tells me what this Amway thing is and how it works and how I will continue to meet several "recruiters" like the nice one I met in the shop. Now that I know what the nice guy was upto, I don't find him as nice anymore. Anyways time came to pass I did not go to his place. Eventually one day I get a call from him and he asks me whether I was still interested in the business opportunity. I ask him "Hey tell me does your e-business have anything to do with Amway?" He falters for a few seconds, and says something like "well not exactly...er...umm...you see it is a very good business opportunity...give me some time and I will explain it to you...". I cut him off and ask again, "Just answer my question. Does it have anything to do with Amway" and finally he succumbs and says "Yes. But you see..." and at that point I told him" No I am not interested. If I do ever get interested I will give you a call. Bye and all the best to you in you E-business". Hmph!
But honestly, I have met people who swear by it. It is as if they are in a trance and believe everything that is told to them. They are dreaming of riches which never come. Sad lot!

I have decided to seek a confidential cooperation with you in the execution of this deal described here under for the benefit of all parties and hope you will keep it as a top secret, because of the nature of this transaction. More so, we are handicap in these circumstances, as the South African Civil Services code of conduct does not allow us to operate an offshore account. Hence your importance in this transaction.
This amount $16.4Million represents the balance of the total contract value executed on behalf of my department by a Foreign Contracting Firm, which we the Officials over invoiced deliberately.

Though the actual contract cost has been paid to the original contractor, leaving the balance in the tune of the said amount, Which we have in principles gotten approval to remit by Key Tested Telegraphic Transfer K.T.T. to any Foreign Bank Account you will provide by filing an Application through the Ministry Of Justice here in South Africa, for the transfer of rights and privileges of the former contractor to you.

I have the Authority of my partners involved to propose that you should be willing to assist us in this transaction, Your share of the sum is 30% of the $16.4Million, 60% for us and 10% for taxation and miscellaneous expenses. The transaction it self is 100% safe, on your part provided you treat it with utmost secrecy and confidentiality. Also, your area of specialization is not a hindrance to the successful execution of this transaction.

I have reposed my confidence in you and hope that you will not disappoint me. I want to assure you that my partner and myself are in the position to make the payment of this claim possible, provided that you can give us a very strong assurance and guarantee that the funds will be secured and please, remember to teat this matter very confidential, because we will not comprehend with any form of exposure as we are still in active Government service.

He He He ha ha ha..Talk of the resident SCAM Busters :D..

Teja Bhai zindabad !.. Actually, in the second post of this thread I had predicted that it was a scam..but thanks for clarifying this for us !

Mr JBhansg....all I can say is this... shame on you ! Unlike Teja Bhai... I really hope more ppl are exposed to your schemes and they avoid you like plague. Instead of advising other desi's abt the pitfalls of this nonsense, you have the audacity to come and claim here abt "financial freedom" !!

Looks like I must add this thread also in my SCAMs BEWARE list !!!
