Hi jago_desi,

I read your post three times to understand what you are trying to hypothesize. Here are my views:

*Your first assumption that there was a 'conspiracy' between HR Ministry and capitalists .....
----------
Canada is not a banana republic where such 'conspiracies' remain unexposed. If it would have been true, there would have been class action law suits long ago. Moreover, how can you say that there are no unions in private companies? And how can you assume that desis (or immigrants) will destroy these unions? In fact newcomers are in the forefront of many of these unions. You have asked readers to research for themselves to get the facts. Apparently, you yourself are short on this.
----------

*Your second assumption that instead of allowing in labourers, the Canadian immigration started to bring in skilled people as they knew English.

----------
It would have been much simpler and cheaper to bring in labourers on workers visa and force them to leave once the job is over. As is being done in gulf countries. I do not understand why the Canadian Govt. wanted to go the more expensive way. And give them all the rights and facilities enjoyed by the citizens. Do you have any answer for this? Do not tell me it was an error. Errors can be rectified in no time.
----------

In your post you have said:
"Lets take an example of a factory where welding is done, they expect foreign engineer to know hw to do it and should be doing it. But maximum number of engineers coming from deshi countries having 10 years of experience to back up their education have not welded a 10 cm length.....if they needed welders they should have got one and not engineers... "
--------
How true! A welding engineer from desi countries finds it below his dignity to hold the welding torch in his hand and start welding. The fact is he does not even know how to weld. On the contrary, in developed countries even Welding Professors know how to deposit sound welds. It is part of their skill sets. The big question is: Were we ready for the change when we came here? And are we changing with our new environment?
---------
jago_desi, no doubt it is creative to think outside the box but it is always prudent to draw line between fantasy and reality.

And to those of you who complain that some desi doctors are driving cabs here, I went to a desi doctor here yesterday (who's been practising for a long time).

He was horrible!!! Got irritated at every question I asked, basically his idea was that I register my name, he gets his 25 bucks and I leave without a fuss. Although that does not say anything about desi doctors in general, I wonder who the hell certified this guy. He should've been driving a cab!

And jago_desi,

Jago. You want to state a whole theory like this (which to me is compleletly flawed) and expect me to do this research? That's like a Ph.d. student stating a thesis and asking his panel to do the research for him. Absurd!

And Kap,

Immigration does not work that way. Are there enough jobs in India for graduates who come of engineering schools there? Do you know how many engineers in India are doing something else?

I know there are issues with Canadian immigration and the policies aren't perfect. We need to work to improve them together and educate prospective immigrants. There I am with you.

What I'm against is stuff that makes no sense and still manages to misguide people.

Good stuff Teja..........you dissected this bloke's post. Love your analysis, makes a lot of sense......he wanted people to do his research for him, he sure has got it now.

Blue Lobster - guess we share a lot of common views - continuing on your post about professionals supposedly driving cabs....the genuine professionals among us come in well prepared and know very well what we are getting into. Its the 'mickey-mouse' type that comes here hoping to get lucky and then ends up getting scr*wed.

Hi BL,

In which way Immigration does work? India is not inviting immigrants to settle down like Canada. So, there is no point of comparison. No engineer works as labourer in Factory in India.

They are doing something else but not as Factory Labourer. I know what you want to say dear.

Are you believed that Canada needs factory worker? There are huge shortages of this type of labour force. Why immigration policy of Canada has not inviting them?

Yes, I agreed but without pointing out the weaken side of policies, how can we will achieve our goal. For educate prospective immigrants, there are lot of things to do for them and prospective immigrants also have to do lots of thing before landing to here.

There’s just one thing wrong with Canada’s immigration policy – losers like you who can barely frame a single correct sentence in English, slipped through its cracks.

Stop dreaming up conspiracy theories, look at yourself, understand your shortcomings and try again.

What a breath of fresh air you are....commenting on people's english...which I found ok and understood what he was trying to say.

You are a real positive person......:D

My idea is not to discourage or encourage people, But to start discussion what went wrong. It is ironical to see that few bunch of nuts find an article discouraging. Come out of your shell and try to think beyond what is printed. If you are asked to research, idea is not to earn degree for me. It is to find a solution for the problem. I have read a lot of senior desi bragging of their success and labeling thread like mine as a looser. Who are they fooling? Themselves!!!
All of us who are in field job or factory job are well aware that immigration policy is not in place for Canada. Let us agree to the fact that returning back to desh is not the solution. It is one-way ticket we bought to come here.............
Above some wise man has quoted that pvt companies have union, Please try to find out; maximum of pvt firms in Canada are running without union. Etobicoke desi’s are aware of Royal Group of Companies. They are the classic example of exploitation of immigrant's. If a union gets elected for a company in that group, it is closed down shortly with machine and orders shifted to another company of the Royal Group. Do you need any more examples?
You as a skilled professional were invited to immigrate to Canada, on landing you are asked to lift boxes. Do you think after a year if I am in field job it is a success. If yes, then at what cost we are getting a placement.
Successful desi of this forum, Do you know a qualified teacher from India getting degree equivalence from authorized body is asked to take minimum of 5 subjects scattered over a year and a 4 week community field placement. Decision is made available after taking almost 3 months to evaluate qualification and experience. Is it a joke? If you want to challenge the decision, you are asked to pay $200 fees to challenge the outcome of evaluation. This may be correct for successful settled immigrant. Ask the person who has qualification, experiece and guts to challenge the decision. Not fall for the foolish stuff like Canadian Skills.
My wife has challenged and taken decision in her favour to work as a teacher with few limitations in her job profile.
I had mentioned in my thread " Canada want to re-invent wheel by teaching skills at HRDC to already highly skilled immigrants". With great disappointment I have to say that nobody was interested to comment on that, probably system has convinced them of their skills to be useless. I want you guys to JAGO.
If I am to quote figures of CIC, is that going to prove anything for you, after that are you going to walk down on road apposing CIC policies.
I have proposed a theory, whoever is interested should investigate and add more to this thread.
If scientist and researchers had not proposed theory and hypothetical statements, do you think man would have walked on moon?
Nobody knows of the facts, what went behind doors to get Immigration law passed.
Seniors should encourage ideas and try to bring it to a conclusion and not on the second reply to thread discard idea as crap.
What I am saying is correct. Today I am not in a position to fight CIC, but someday you will read about this in newspaper like Toronto Star, and our senior desi will be publishing link everywhere.
