The story about the tiny frogs….

Life’s lesson
No. 1

There once was a bunch of tiny frogs,...

… who arranged a running competition.
The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants...

The race began...

Honestly:
No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.

You heard statements such as:
"Oh, WAY too difficult!! They will NEVER make it to the top."
or:
"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one...
... Except for those who in a fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher...

The crowd continued to yell
"It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up...
...But ONE continued higher and higher and higher...
This one wouldn’t give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who after a big effort was the only one who reached the top!
THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how the one who succeeded had found the strength to reach the goal?

It turned out...
That the winner was DEAF!!!!

The wisdom of this story is:

Never listen to other people’s tendencies to be
negative or pessimistic...
…cause they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you. The ones you have in your heart!

Always think of the power words have.
Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!

Therefore:

ALWAYS be…

POSITIVE!

And above all:

Be DEAF when people tell YOU that YOU can not fulfil YOUR dreams!
Always think:
I can do this!
*****************************************************************
Pass this message on to 5 “tiny frogs” you care about.
Give them some motivation!!!

Someone who is realistic and acknowledges facts for what they are, someone who assesses situations in a rational manner, whose actions are based on critically evaluated observations, someone who is discerning, and does not fall prey to distorted perceptions, someone who does not live in self denial, someone who is able to evaluate one's potential pragmatically, who can be level headed and remains cognizant of what is achievable and what is not - that person should not to be labelled as "negative". It is certainly good to be positive. There is no doubt about that. No one should be despondent and drop arms in the face of adversities without having given one's best. But at the same time it is also very essential to recognize the fine line that divides "positive" from foolish optimism, short sightedness and irrational enthusiasm.

Nice story, Bio. Reminds me of Edison, who was partially deaf. Edison had amazing focus and he attributed some of it to his deafness.

And agree with DTC's points too, however raltionale is so incredibly subjective. I'm sure the fool who proclaimed a few hundred years back that the Earth was round and not really the center of the solar system, much less the universe was dubbed foolish, short sighted and irrational by most of his peers.

Fine line indeed.

Diogenes, I understand what you are saying. However, I'm chasing a dream after all :). I do not have much room for 'reality' there. I chase the dream and then when I fall, I try to get up and chase it again(while trying to avoid the reasons I fell before).

Just a personal opinion and not for everybody.

Fair enough j3d! It is for YOU to realize your own potential and what you can and cannot achieve! Chase a dream! Certainly! That's the only way to turn dreams into reality. If you have been honest with yourself and evaluated yourself without bias, if you know your true potential, and if after that you feel that the dream is something tangible, by all means go for it!
However, what I mean to say is, that someone watching you or listening to you should be careful about this line of thinking :"Oh look!! J3D chased his dream and achieved it! If HE could become a3D animator(or whatever...just guessing), if HE could set up a business and is able to earn a 6 figure income, then I can do it too!!" If this person's decision of his capacity and achievement is dependent SOLELY on the fact that since you have done it, he too can, then he could in for some rude shocks. Evaluating the level of my potential for achievement, what I can do or what I can't, based ONLY on someone else's example is not "positivism". The only lesson that can and should be drawn from examples of any kind, be it yours, or Edison's or the frogs, is that working hard and putting sincere effort CAN be rewarding! Only because Edison was what he was, does not imply that I too could become an Edison if I wanted. All I can learn and adopt from such examples is that people have fought against adversities and have succeeded. The lesson is that I too should not give up in the face of adversities. No more!! But don't we all know that already! Is it something new? No! Then why all these repetitions? Who says that there are no success stories! It is no revelation at all! But success stories do not imply that each and everyone can or will be successful! And it is not only the lack of "positive" attitude that is the reason for those who have not been successful! "Positive" attitude is not the cure-all prescription! It is but a small, albeit essential, component in the bigger scheme of things.

We should agree to disagree :)

afaik ,anybody who really WANTS to be sucessfull , will be! In ways the person cannot even dream of. It has to start with a dream.

The question is how much do you really want it and if you are going to let reality come in the way.

Again this is a personal conviction. There is no right and wrong. In my world...Dreams which leads to thoughts which leads to words and actions leads to reality.

I do agree that there's only one J3D :)
