I would like some suggestions on how to deal with this idiot.

There is this guy who keeps logging on under different ids (e.g. faltu funda, tranquiliser, kboxer, footloose, success2004). His only goal is to discredit the website and users. Some of his points

1) I/Crenshaw/MI/GG/Jake etc etc. are all the same

2) Chandresh/Pramod chopra are employees of rogers (He said this when they protested his contention that Rogers sucked).

Obviously I do have his IP address. I'm also about 90% sure that he contributes under another regular id and know which one, going by the login times (this guy usually logs on at 3:00 am or something in the morning). As another id, his contribution to this site are monumentally meaningless one-liners and pin pricks. Many a times, he replies to his own messages, sometimes to push threads up. The IPs aren't an exact match however the subnets do match. I am however not a 100% sure if they are the same.

Many have suggested that I post his IP online however I'm not sure if this is the best alternative. However considering how frequently this is going on, I don't have much choice. I'm also going to report this IP to Rogers for abuse.

Any other ideas?

(Send me a PM or email if you don't feel like putting your input here).

Dear SIR,

I feel that you must discus the issue with Garvo Bhai on phone. Also, try to take a strong action against him so that the message can be conveyed to others.

I am not an expert in the field, But if you can some how delete the message from a particular IP, it will help us a lot. Another thing is to take off the write right away from him by identifying him via his ip insted of his username.

i am not sure how the above can be implemented, let the other people on board to try.

If you post his (or her) IP online, what is going to happen? People don't know you by your IP. In what way is it going to affect the poster? Only moderators can see the IP and not users of the board, so what is the use of posting his IP. What is the use of posting say 100.100.100.100 is spamming the board?

You can report to Rogers but will they chase an IP, which is not in Canada (or is it?) ?

This leaves us with only one option, monitoring the board and banning the user or locking the post if necessary.

Actually, most ISPs take such abuse very seriously.
It is true that most people can't make much sense out of an IP address, but the ISP can.

They can use their IP logs to figure out exactly which user is doing it.
Then the ISP can terminate the person's account.

There are only so many ISPs in Canada, and after a while, the person won't have Internet access thru any of the major ISPs.

Also, an IP address will tell you exactly where this person is located - not down to the street level, but the city level.
And the ISP can take it from there and take necessary action.

What are our legal rights to complain to Rogers? I mean by having several IDs and posting nuisance on our site, is it a valid reason for Rogers to terminate the account?

I have developed a code to ban somebody using IP address, haven't implemented yet, but it seems I have to move fast to do that.

I do not think the person in question is in Canada. I do not think any ISP can simply ban you for posting stupid comments on a particular website or forum.

Rogers referred to is for the cellphone service.

Hi BL,

Please check the IP address for a member who uses the id space. I have received a PM from kboxer and space but I didnt feel it was worth my time to respond to their allegations. I am pretty sure that are jealous of the success of CD or they must be a bunch of morons to make such idiotic statements. Why don't they see the photographs of the second CD meeting(at Biomeds place) to asertain that you and GG are not the same. Or do they believe in space time travel that they have come to such conclusions.

And kboxer and space stop sending your PMs to me. If you guys have enough time on your hands rent some Matrix movies and watch them. Don't send some fictional mails I don't believe a word of your allegations.

Thanks,

Nikhil
