What are our legal rights to complain to Rogers? I mean by having several IDs and posting nuisance on our site, is it a valid reason for Rogers to terminate the account?
I have developed a code to ban somebody using IP address, haven't implemented yet, but it seems I have to move fast to do that.

Dear Garvo Bhai,
I refered your name in my earlier reply. I am surprised and happy (not HAPPY of my name ) that you have some kind of code ready to ban somebody using a particular IP address.
my feeling is that if someone is spammimg our board we can stop him with the help of your code, we need not bother rogers for it. After all hotmail, yahoo etc and all other are deciding and banning the spam themself.
dear Garvo, i am sorry that i was not writing on the board since last one year when i returned to India. but I will like to ask wheather my suggestion of banning someone with a particular IP (or a range of IPs)with our code is technically right??
(considering the dynamic allocation of IPs by DHCP and routers etc)..

As an owner of a legal business entity you can lodge a complaint with Rogers. The standard Canadian policy in such matters is that the ISP would send an e-mail to the abuser. And after a long winding write-up on how seriously Rogers views internet abuse and citing its privacy policy to protect a client, it would ask the abuser to deal directly with you and resolve the issue.

If moderators can view IP address which can identify a person with multiple ID, why not allow everybody to view the IP address. Reader can identify that same person is submitting message and leading a reader to conclusion. IP is not in privacy act. Then we will not have question of having this thread itself or ban any IP. Members will be more responsible in using multiple ID.
If CD chose not to make IP address public, please educate us what prevents a website owner to keep IP address hidden.
P.S Admin: I tried to reply by clicking new reply but new threads got created with the above subject. Please delete them.

BL, J3D, MI,
One of the objectives of having a site like this one was to promote freedom of speech and expression within a broad framework of rules and regulations.
If someone is misusing or misrepresenting information and ids, I think you have all right as moderators and as rangers to call the shots.
Afterall, you are the captains of this ship and you have all right to guide/ steer the ship in a certain direction.
A website must have character. It is not a clip board or a french window where you can do what you want.
The flip side is I wont be surprised if our member figures halve.
