This is what I did. I went to a 220 V shop and bought a Citizen Multii Region DVD Player which can play on both PAL and NTSC TV. The one I bought has dual voltage feature i.e., it can work on both 110V and 220V. Currently, I am using it in Canada plugged to a TV which is only NTSC. If I remember it right, I paid $150 about 6 months back.

Hmmm interesting! afaik 99% of Namerican tvs can only support ntsc scans. Most imported tv sets otoh support both pal and ntsc. If the dvd sends out NTSC signals...it should work I guess.
What kind of TV(make and model #) do you have(if you do not mind me asking)?
Daks --
Can you give me the address of the store?
What is the quality of the picture that you get on the TV?
Is it of equally good quality as an NTSC DVD?
Thanks.

Greetings,
Just to update everyone on this issue -
I managed to find a multi-region DVD player after a lot of search.
Everyone told me that they are not very common, esp. in regular electronics shop and I needed something that has a NTSC converter built in, etc.
Well, FutureShop got a new stock of DVDs, which are multi-region.
They had it on sale for $39.
This one is multi-region coded, as well as multi-system (they are different concepts).
So if anyone is looking for something similar, rush to FutureShop and get one - I think this sale is on only for the "Boxing week".
It also has the other bells and whistles, like VCD compatible, MP3 player built in, and so on.

I have a JVC TV and a Philips DVD player on which I have played some DVDs brought at Square One Wallmart .
I didnt use any converting devices and the picture is swell . Now how do I understand this :???
Manasvi
They will obviously play well here.
Have you tried playing any non-region 1 DVDs on it, like UK DVDs or Australian, etc.

I hope you meant to write "stock of DVD players" and not DVDs only.
What is the make please?
