I do have a Carrom Board which I had imported from India almost a decade ago. It has travelled four countries with me - but still provides great entertainment whenever used. Though, I would love to have a really good one, something like I used to see in good clubs when I was a child, but could not afford at that time.
That reminds me of one thing. When I had first moved to Singapore 20 years ago, we had formed a club sort of a thing at one of the friends places. We got togather and contributed one initial sum (I think $50 at that time) which was used to buy a few things like Carrom Boards, TT Table, Chess Boards, Playing Cards and a few other things. We used to gather at his place every Saturday/Sunday and spend 3-4 hours together playing various games (including lawn cricket with tennis ball!!). there was no regular membership fee, no obligations of any kind. It was simple fun atmosphere. The initial quota of soft drinks and beer was bought from the initial fund and we kept a book near the drinks carton so that everyone who drank whatever could write on that, and settle his account every few weeks. Dinner used to be simple affair like Dal-Chawal, Pav Bhaji, Bhel Puri or whatever - just one dish each evening. There was no duty for anyone to cook - but families just decided between themselves who would bring what on a particular day.
It was the best 'club' that I ever went to and still hold loving memories of the time spent playing, betting, or just talking!

Hi guys -
I am interested in your idea for a DESI SPORTS CLUB. Especially CARROM and Badminton. I got an excellent one from India this time.
Even if 3-4 are interested in the beginning, we can add to this slowly. The idea is to have fun-filled weekends.
Everyone PM me with your Emails and I can set up an initial meeting - then take it from there...
Prasenjit.
I guess carrom boards are available at coconut grove convenience store in dixie and eglington. The store is specifically for kerala groceries.
