OACETT or PEO(CET or P Eng)?

Can someone answer my question?

1. Is it necessary to get a mech engg degree from Mumbai University \"assessed\" or \"authenticated\" by Toronto University or any other authority? If yes, from whom?

2. What is better / easier / faster / cheaper / more useful - for graduate engineers- between the two registrations - PEO or OACETT? Personally, I find oacett better because eventhough it is considered as one level below PEng, it has got a CTEN forum which is helpful to find a job in industry. As such, a newcomer is very rarely offered a senior level job (especially in manufacturing), so my personal opinion is to start with oacett as a CET designation and then after getting a relevent job, go for the PEng. What is your opinion?

I totaly agree with you. If you have CET you are allowed to sit in job related exams fit for Diploma from Canada. Atleast you can be in the technician catagory. I have also left PEO in midway and applied CET.

I have applied in Mechanical Engineering, I intend to use it for appearing for application engineer positions.

It is for you to believe, UofT will give you a funny equivalent of your degree which is not going to help in PEng or any other license. IMO, it is waste of time and money. If you are getting it done thru HRSDC, it is OK.
That letter is not going to help you in JOB search.

PEng
Hi Anuj,

If you are having Engineering degree, why are you thinking of applying to CET level. Better to apply for PEng . They will call you for an interview with in two months time.
Best of luck

Please do not find and discover difference, equivalency etc etc. If you have a engineering degree from India, (including AMIE), apply for P.Eng. directly with your engineering resume ( not your foolish CV, bio-data - get help how to write resume for P.Eng application).

When you are asked to write exam or interview, face those. You know your subject, what is the fear. We do not compare we make inclusion but get yourself ready. Go and do the needful to get P.Eng if you really interested for this.

No auhthority in India has power to ignore Canadian University degrees and also no authority in Canada has any authority to ignore Indian Degrees.

Though, you could find engineering related job without P.Eng and CET. Remember that CET is not compulsary to practice in technology field in Canada.

I have simple foreign degree and got my P.Eng. - no question asked, send by post and received by post - nothing inbetween. Ask and consult directly your Provincial Association and nobody inbetween you and Association to bend you.

I also have an engineering degree from India and passed successfully all 3 technical and 1 non-technical exams (last year and this summer). Also recently gave PPE exam and now waiting for results. So guys, accept challenge(s) and move on.

cheers!!

Congratulation missoncadelin. Yes, follow requirments. Hope you will get P.Eng soon.

This is easy in Canada. To write for P.Eng in India you need 7 years experience compared to Canada. To get chartered engineer in UK, you need UK Master degree (not bachelor degree) and no writing now-a-days to get C.Eng. , means bachelor degrees not allowed at all. Earlier they could write assigned exam or can be exempted if have master degree.

Canada is easy, easy and easy.
