The websites of Indian consulates in Canada look like the result of some High School project. It does not reflect a country which is a leading edge IT software provider. Compare it to the chinese consulate Web site and the Canadian Govt Websites.

I think the indian embassy website is better than Chinese website.. well both of them need improvement.. I guess they really don't care about beauty of these website as long as it has all the information you need.

Geez, man, the Indian website is so unprofessional and terribly dated.
Looks like it was written more than 10 years ago when they used to write HTML in Notepad !
The Chinese one is better, but only just.

That said, the US consulate and DoJ websites are not great shakes either.
They are very text-based with pages and pages of information poorly organised and hard to find.
The BCIS site is a little better, but only just.

I guess they have no incentive (and no funding) to keep the websites updated and looking cool !

I have not seen or compared the websites mentioned by you guys, but the only logical reason I can come up with is that just like Western world gets IT work done by Indians which in their view is cheap, the Indian authorities might be getting it done thru people who they consider cheap (and that would be the IT guys who do not work for any western country's job orders!), or employees who are already in the government (and we need not discuss the quality of work Indian govt people perform):D

The first time I saw Indian Consulate Website, I was surprised by the design. It looks antiquated. It does not appear to be designed by a web designer in India or Canada.

the indian govt. should see that most of its sites get revamped as it creates an image of the country to the world.

:) yup the website is primitive looking. even a student in a course on website designing could undertake the project for them and do a better job.
