Hello all,
I am appearing for the U.S.A. visitor visa interview to go to US, reason I got an interview call from Canadian Consulate General, Buffalo.
I’ve 2 questions with regards to the DS-156 form for U.S.A. visitor visa.
On section 24 they ask to fill, “At What Address Will You Stay in The U.S.?” and on section 25 they ask, “Name and Telephone Numbers of Person in U.S. Who You Will Be Staying With or Visiting for Tourism or Business”
I am planning to stay in hotel and haven’t decided anything as I’ll wait until I get visa. So what address should I mention in section 24? I knew no one at USA.
In section 25, can I mention the address of Canadian Consulate General, Buffalo, as I’ll be visiting them or my answer should relate to section 24 only?
Please help me with these 2 questions. I really thank you all for your time.
For the address (item 24), you should give the address of the hotel you will be staying at.
For item 25, you should give the address of the Canadian consulate only if you are declaring that your purpose of the visit is to attend immigration interview.
If you are not declaring that and are simply saying you want to go for vacation purpose, then you should not give their address.

Hi pratickm,
For item 25, yeah I am declaring that I will be attending interview at Canadian Consulate General and that's the reason I wanna visit US.
For item 24, I still have a doubt, I am going to stay in the hotel, but once I will get visa then I'll decide what hotel I am staying in. So how can I mention the address of the hotel. Can I just write, any good hotel close to the Canadian Consulate General? Is that ok or looks that I am trying to fool them, though I don't wanna fool them. I am just trying to be honest with them.
What should I do?
Thanx for your time.
The address that you put in there goes into the BCIS/DoS/DHS central database and is used to track foreign nationals entering the country.
I think they will require you to provide some address where you can be reacheable during your stay.
Why can't you book a hotel before your arrival?
I don't think giving the address of the Canadian Consulate is right because you won't be staying there - the form is asking for an address where you will be staying.
If you really cannot provide any kind of address, I suggest you call the US consulate in Toronto and ask them.
There is a toll number listed on their website - you will have to pay for the call, but they will answer your question.
Rather than doing something incorrect, it is better to just call them and ask.
My $0.02.

Hello Guys,
I am in the same situation as Indianguy. I have scheduled an interview for US visa in March and I have given the Hotel address in item 24, and for item 2 I have given the hotel details again as thats the point of contact for me. You cant give CIC Detriot as you are not staying there.
With regard to hotels there are lots of option for one night it goes from 70$ - 1000 $. If you book both flight and hotel together its much cheaper. Any how all the best for your interview.

Dude
Hello guys,
Thanx for everything so far. I am going for the interview tomorrow and looks to me that I am running out of the time. How about the idea I have as below:
I know one person, who lives in Florida, but I am just curious whether it is okay if I get her address (that I will stay at her place) as Florida is in the south, and for the interview where I am going is north i.e. Buffalo? Does that make sense? Do anyone travel that much?
Do let me know whether it is okay to give the person name that lives in Florida. If it's okay, I'll go with that.
Thanx for your time.
Indianguy --
You are missing the point - the application form is asking for the address where you will be staying.
Not the address of any person you know in the entire country.
If you are not staying with the person in Florida, you cannot give that person's address.
I don't understand why you can't simply book a hotel over the Internet and give that address like Dude did.
That will solve all your problems.
Hotels in Buffalo are not that expensive - I have stayed in Buffalo for about $35 a night several times.
Once I had to pay around $65 - but at that time there was some stupid convention going on there.
You are creating a storm in a teacup - book a hotel and give that address and be done with it.
